The Alpha King's Huntress - Kiss Moonlight

Chapter 1 The Alpha King's Huntress

Are you insane, Kasia? You can't go there on your own.

Am I supposed to sit around and do nothing now that I know that she's alive?

Yes, that's exactly what you should do.

Are you serious right now, Austin? She's all I have left.

She made her decision by going with the unit to bomb the Moonlight Sanctum. She knew the risks, Austin responded.

You need to stop talking right now, Kasia warned.

You're going to throw away everything you worked for. Your rank, the respect,

    That means nothing to me,

I won't come and help you. I'll let the captain know if you leave, Austin threatened.

Kasia looked at the man that she had grown to love, and now it seemed all the love she had for him had evaporated. By snitching on her, it would declare her a traitor to the Hunters. She could potentially be hunted down and killed to make sure she didn't reveal secrets.

Fine, Kasia said. She turned and continued walking to her car. Kasia pulled out of the parking lot, not even casting a glance at Austin.

    It had been three years.

It had been three long years since the day she'd received the devastating news that her sister, Lana, had been captured and imprisoned. Many had assumed Lana was dead, especially after her disappearance while on a mission. But rumors and her health monitor reactivated had reached Kasia's ears, casting doubt on Lana's fate.

You are not allowed to track the signal. For all we know, this could be a trap. There's no way that she would have survived this long with those beasts.

As far as the Hunters were concerned, if Lana was alive, she had become a traitor, a furry. Kasia didn't want to believe that. Lana would never.

The soft buzz of her phone ringing brought Kasia out of her thoughts. She looked down to see Austin's name. Kasia frowned and let his call go to voicemail.

I can't be distracted. I have to do this, Kasia told herself, but doubt was creeping forward slowly.

As Kasia's car came to a halt, she took a deep breath to steady herself. She knew the risks involved in infiltrating the Alpha King's territory. Kasia had to take her time in order to not get caught. She left her vehicle well-hidden in the woods, not daring to approach any closer in the car.

I can do this. I just have to stay calm, she whispered to herself. But she couldn't turn back now.

Silently, she slipped through the shadows, moving closer to the imposing structure where she believed Lana was held. The night was her ally, its obscurity veiling her as she neared her destination.

In the distance, the castle loomed. If this was any other situation, Kasia would have thought it was beautiful. Kasia's heart pounded as she contemplated her next move.

Kasia noticed a woman picking flowers not too far away from her. She moved quickly before she noticed her scent. Don't make a sound, Kasia whispered as she placed her silver dagger on her back.

Don't. I have a daughter, the woman pleaded.

I'll know if you try to contact the pack. You do that, and I'll sever your spine, Kasia warned.

What…what do you want? The woman asked.

How do I get into the dungeon undetected? Kasia asked.

The woman hesitated for only a second before saying, There's a small door on the left side of the castle.

Thank you, Kasia stated before quickly applying pressure to a pressure point on the woman's neck, knocking her out. Kasia had no intention of harming anyone if she could manage it.

Kasia's senses heightened as she crept closer, her trained instincts on high alert. The soft rustle of leaves underfoot was the only sound that betrayed her presence as she closed in on the outer wall of the fortress. Guards patrolled the perimeter, their keen eyes scanning the surroundings.

With utmost care, Kasia observed their routines, noting the gaps in their vigilance. She knew she had to time her entrance just right. It had to be swift and unnoticed.

After what felt like an eternity, an opportunity presented itself. Two guards moved away from the concealed door, leaving it unguarded for a precious few moments. It was her chance. Kasia dashed to the entrance and slipped through the door just as it closed behind her.

That was close. I don't know how we're going to do this to get out, Kasia thought.

She found herself in a dimly lit corridor, lined with heavy wooden doors. Each held a potential prison cell. Her heart ached, knowing her sister could be hidden behind any of them.

It would be my luck that they didn't have barred doors, Kasia muttered as she moved further into the dungeon.

She pressed an ear to the door of the closest cell, straining to hear any sound that might indicate Lana's presence. There was only silence.

She moved on, checking each cell one by one, her dread deepening with each empty room. She couldn't allow herself to entertain the possibility that Lana was no longer here, that her mission might be in vain, and that this was a trap like everyone was telling her.

The last cell she reached held a woman; her disheveled hair and haggard face were a sign that she had been in there for years. As Kasia approached, the prisoner's eyes met hers.

    Lana? Kasia whispered.

Recognition slowly dawned in Lana's eyes, and she uttered a name that hadn't been spoken in years. Kasia?

With trembling hands, Kasia unlocked the cell and pulled her sister into a hug. Tears streamed down their faces as they clung to each other, the weight of years of separation heavy in their hearts.

We have to get you out of here, Kasia said. I thought you were dead.

I never thought I'd see you again, Lana whispered. You shouldn't have come.

But their reunion was short-lived, as the sound of footsteps echoed down the corridor. Kasia's intrusion had alerted the guards, who were moving in.

Kasia knew they had little time. With her sister at her side, she had to fight her way out.

I'm getting you out of here, Kasia declared as she pulled a pill out of her pocket and popped it into her mouth. And nothing is going to stop me.

Chapter 2 We Can't Escape Him

Wait, Kasia. You don't understand, Lana said, but Kasia didn't hear her.

Kasia's heart was racing as a high level of adrenaline was rushing through her veins. Her senses were heightened. She could hear a mouse rustling in the grass right outside the dungeon.

'Focus,' Kasia told herself. This was not her first time taking one of these pills, but each time she felt as if the effects were stronger and stronger.

Kasia, Lana said, grabbing Kasia's arm. Kasia whipped around to face Lana, but Lana jumped back after seeing her eyes. Your eyes—you're losing yourself.

I can worry about that later. I'm getting you out of here, Kasia growled, turning her attention back to the entrance of the cell. She could hear and smell them coming. As soon as Kasia saw a figure around the corner entering the cell, she lunged forward with inhuman speed.

'My King, we are having trouble in the dungeon,' one of the warriors connected with Ethan. His voice was frantic, which concerned Ethan. How could his warriors have trouble with one small human woman?

Ethan's massive form loomed in the dungeon, his eyes narrowing as he surveyed the scene. His warriors lay scattered across the floor, incapacitated, and a bitter taste of disappointment filled his mouth. It was clear that the inexperienced Lycans had been bested. What he didn't understand was why they weren't killed.

'Perhaps she is not a hunter, after all,' Ethan thought as he approached one of the recovering warriors. He demanded an explanation. What happened here?

The Lycan, still groggy from the encounter, stammered out, My King, it was a human woman. She entered the dungeon, and she overpowered us. She fought as if she were Lycan herself. We are sorry. We couldn't stop her. She took Lana with her.

Ethan's jaw tightened at the mention of Lana. He had anticipated that someone would have come looking for Lana after her health monitor was reactivated, but he did not expect a relative to come for her. Lana always said that she was expendable; no one would come for her as she was lower in rank.

It seemed that she didn't think highly enough of herself, as her sister came for her. The monitor was only on for 48 hours; he had not expected her to act so swiftly or effectively. The situation had escalated far more than he had imagined, and now it was his responsibility to resolve it.

I see, he responded, his tone filled with displeasure. You will make sure the others get to the infirmary. Then, you will take the health monitor far away from our territory and discard it.

What about the huntress, my king? the warrior asked.

I will deal with her on my own, Ethan answered. With that, he shifted into his formidable Lycan form, his senses sharpening as he prepared to track Kasia and Lana. His nostrils flared, detecting the lingering scent of Lana, but there was something wrong. The trail of the other woman, Kasia, was curiously absent, as if she had masked her scent intentionally.

Ethan's lips curled in a silent growl as he considered the implications. Kasia was no ordinary human; she was indeed part of the hunters, as a regular human would not be able to get ahold of such an item. How she was able to sneak onto his territory undetected as far as she did was no ordinary feat. He couldn't let her leave. It would be dangerous for his pack, and he would bring them both back, dead or alive.

Kasia gripped the steering wheel with white-knuckled intensity. Her gaze darted between the road and her rearview mirror, her chest heaving with anxiety. The effects of the drug are slowly wearing off now, and her body aches.

Kasia, you shouldn't be taking those drugs, Lana stated. They were prototypes three years ago, and it seems that they are now.

Is that the only thing you can think about after not seeing me for three years? Kasia snapped and then took a deep breath. I am sorry. I didn't mean to yell. You know how the pill affects me.

Lana, however, was growing increasingly concerned by Kasia's erratic driving. Her voice trembled as she pleaded, "Kasia, you need to slow down. It is still in your system, and you have to be more careful. Kasia couldn't afford to slow down or look back; they had to put as much distance as possible between them and the Alpha King's territory.

    Fine, I'll…

Kasia stopped in midsentence when she saw what was in her rearview mirror. There was a massive force following behind them, gaining on them. Her eyes widened at the massive Lycan following her like an angry, dark cloud.

I can't slow down, Lana. Do you not see what is behind us? Kasia continued.

He is not going to harm us, Lana explained.

What are you talking about? They had you in a dungeon, Kasia exclaimed. That... that man back there is the Alpha King of the Lycans. He is going to rip us apart if he catches us.

No, you have it all wrong, Kasia. Just listen to me, Lana stated.

Before Kasia could respond, in the rearview mirror, the massive black Lycan grew larger, closing the distance between them. The overwhelming presence of the Alpha King was unmistakable. Kasia's heart raced as she realized the futility of trying to outrun him.

We can't escape him, Kasia said, but we can force him to leave us alone. She swerved the car to the left, slamming into the Alpha King. He snarled in response, slamming back into the car, causing it to almost flip over.

Kasia, stop!! Lana screamed. You're going to get us killed.

Put your seatbelt on, Kasia said, and Lana quickly did so.

The car tires screeched as Kasia swerved to collide head-on with the colossal Alpha King. The impact was catastrophic, causing Kasia's car to lift off the ground, spiraling through the air before finally crashing down and repeatedly flipping over itself.

    Chapter 3 She's My Mate!

Due to the previous disorienting movement, Kasia found herself confused and dazed. Her head throbbed from the collision, and she struggled to focus on her surroundings. It was Lana's voice that eventually penetrated her foggy mind, calling out to her in a frantic plea.

Kasia! Kasia, are you okay? Please, answer me!

Kasia's vision cleared slowly as she realized that she and Lana were still trapped inside the overturned car. Kasia fumbled to unbuckle their seatbelts. Her hands shook as she attempted to free them from the mangled wreckage, her heart pounding in her chest.

Don't panic. I'm… I'm going to get you out, Kasia said as she could now smell gasoline, which meant the car was in danger of exploding.

With trembling fingers, Kasia finally managed to release the seatbelts, and she groaned as she struggled to crawl out of the car. Her movements were slow and labored, with pain radiating from her side where she had sustained an injury during the accident. Lana, too, was injured, her stomach stained with blood. But they had to get out of the car.

Kasia managed to drag Lana from the wreckage and away before the car exploded. She collapsed next to Lana, relieved, and promptly vomited as the side effects of the pill were now hitting her hard. The low rumble of a growl brought her attention to the left.

Kasia, please just stop, Lana said as Kasia slowly stood up. Lana gripped Kasia's ankle, trying to get her to calm down.

If he wasn't trying to kill her, he could have helped us out of the car instead of letting us almost blow up, Kasia said angrily to Lana. He is not some savior. He doesn't want us to escape.

Kasia's eyes narrowed in contempt as she caught sight of the relentless Alpha King. He stood nearby, his eyes fixed on them, his body tense and ready for a confrontation. She understood what he was doing, as she was trained to do the same. Make sure to never be captured and leave no witnesses.

Understanding this did not make Kasia feel sorry for him. It just made her double down on her anger and hatred toward him. The Alpha King was just another obstacle in her way. Kasia looked down at Lana, seeing her weak and clutching to her ankle while holding her injured stomach.

'She wouldn't have been harmed if he had just let them go,' Kasia thought angrily.

Despite the overwhelming sense of fear, anger surged through Kasia. Her voice quivered with emotion as she spoke, You will not enslave me or my sister again, not if I can help it.

Lana attempted to speak to clarify the situation again. Kasia, please calm down. He has no intention of harming us. You…

Can you even hear yourself? This man—this monster—flipped our car. I don't understand how you could believe that he is not trying to harm us. Don't be fooled. Deep down, you know that I am right. I'm going to get us out of here so we can make a fresh start in a new country, far from all of this, Kasia interrupted Lana angrily.

Kasia reached for her silver blade, which would have been in its holster on her side, but it was now gone, probably lost in the car. 'Damn. I don't have a choice now,' Kasia thought. She retrieved another pill from her pocket.

Kasia, stop! You're not supposed to take so many! Lana exclaimed.

Despite Lana's protest, Kasia swallowed the pill anyway. The consequences of taking multiple pills in rapid succession were severe, but Kasia was beyond reasoning at this point.

Ethan snarled, his voice dripping with disdain, You do well to listen to your sister, woman, and submit now. This doesn't have to go any further.

Kasia's eyes widened as she didn't know that Lycans could actually speak in their beast forms. The surprise wore off, and she scoffed, I'm going to make you regret this, you monster.

With that, Kasia lunched with Ethan. Ethan dodged and blocked most of her blows, realizing now how Kasia had bested his warriors. Whatever was in the pill was giving her the strength of at least a beta-lycan.
