Rebirth of Luna Amber - Yeesha Yusuf

    CHAPTER 1

    Reene

Is she going to be okay? I heard a gruff voice ask as my eyes forced themselves open. The blinding lights, further enhanced by the hospital walls, made me shut them almost immediately.

She'll be... Oh! She's awake. Another voice said as the footsteps moved closer to me.

My vision finally got clear and I made to sit up. A sharp pain tore through the small of my back, upwards to my neck inducing a loud wince from me.

Easy dear. A kind voice advised, as she patted my shoulders, tearing another shout of pain through my throat. That was also commendable considering the fact that my throat was parched and any liquid, warm or cold was welcome at that moment.

I think the injuries would be healed in a week, considering your heightened genetics. The figure turned towards the other two I hadn't noticed the first time I opened my eyes.

I hissed as I studied the woman. She was dressed in a white coat, the insignia of doctors, accepted worldwide. Her hair was packed in a ponytail, and as she turned to speak to the other two in the ward, I spotted a beautiful tattoo of some foreign characters. Same tattoo that had always fascinated me.

She was our family doctor. The one who had and was still treating me, after my fall. The thought drew a loud groan, soft yet guttural from my throat.

Reene, are you okay? Another figure came up, and sat beside me, ignoring the vacant seat beside my bed.

    Mother, I croaked.

What the hell were you thinking?! She waved her hands exasperatedly.

I turned my face away, looking through the glass door at the individuals moving to and fro the floors of the hospital.

You wouldn't speak, would you? Don't you owe us an apology? You jumped off a cliff young lady. Are you that desperate to render us childless?! A manly voice yelled as he ran his hands frustratedly through his hair.

Father, mother, can I get some rest? I questioned, my voice raspy.

Both of them stared at themselves. I might have not noticed their nervous expressions before, but I did now. Beads of sweat covered their foreheads, my father more so. His hands were tucked in his black suit, his Alpha aura oozing from his being.

Of course, you can get some rest, sweetheart. Your father and I have to go back to the pack house to sort out some things. You'll be good on your own, wouldn't you? Although my mother was innocently trying to be considerate, that wasn't what I needed at that moment.

The rampaging thoughts running through my head didn't help matters. My lips parted to speak, and in the end, I ended up letting out a few words,

Where is Gabe? I asked in a soft voice, which had thankfully cleared a bit not to sound like a caw.

My parents turned away simultaneously, avoiding my gaze. They literally looked everywhere. Everywhere, but my face.

Judging from their expressions, I knew the answer. My heart clenched painfully, as the last bit of my hope crashed. Hope that my mate will come back to me. That all that had happened in the past few hours was nothing but a nightmarish prank.

    Reene, my mother began.

Please, don't... I will be fine on my own. I turned to the side, groaning as the pain on my injured side became more defined.

Stop acting like a fucking child, Reene! Gabe chose his mate, aren't you supposed to be happy for him? Happy that your friend found his mate? My father finally lost it, and snapped at me.

Without even turning, I knew my mother would try to soothe his anger by rubbing his shoulders.

My lips curved in a sneer. Of course. I had to be happy for my 'friend.' Hell, I was happy as it was. So happy that I wanted to cry. So fucking happy that I had jumped off a cliff after seeing the one I coveted as my mate enveloping my girlfriend in the most intimate embrace ever.

Leave, I whispered, my voice barely audible. But I knew they heard. And that was because, the next minute, the door opened and they walked out.

I listened as their footsteps faded away on the tiled hospital floor. Listened until I heard nothing.

And then, the memories crashed in. I bit my lower lip hard as I tried forcing back my tears. No, I couldn't cry. I wouldn't.

Gabe... It was funny how the name invoked a foreign type of pain in my heart, that I would never have thought possible. The same name that had always made me happy.

I pressed a button at the side of my table, and waited as my bed slowly turned up, making me sit.

Leaning my back on the soft backrest, I finally let it out. The tears that I had been holding back ever since I woke up. The same tears pushed me to the cliff close to the pack house as our pack members were focused on finding their mates. The happy shouts had drowned mine when I finally let myself fall down the cliff.

How the hell I had been rescued, and who rescued me, I didn't know. But then, whoever did had inadvertently become my worst enemy.

The door opened again, and I snapped annoyingly at my parents. Or not.

I told you guys I wanted my- The words stuck in my throat, as I stared wide-eyed at the intruder or intruders rather.

My nostrils flared, and I watched as the muscled bag of asshole, my best friend turned nemesis, walk in smugly hand-in-hand with his mate.

What are you doing here, Gabe? I snapped, ignoring the pang of hurt that enveloped my heart.

Easy there. I never knew you were brave. Tsk, such wasted love. He remarked, as he helped his bitchy mate sit on the vacant seat beside my bed.

That doesn't answer my question, Gabe. Making sure my emotions weren't noticeable in my voice, I calmly continued.

Having fun with your mate, aren't you? I added with a blank look on my face.

He smirked, and kissed the top of Sierra's hair, with an exaggerated show of affection.

Of course, I am. But then, you can't relate, can you? Maybe if you had stayed back, who knew? Maybe you would have found your own mate. He played with his fingers as he threw an annoying smile at me.

Staring at his emerald eyes, the same eyes that had made him irresistible to me in the past, I forced back my tears, my hands grabbing at the sheets tightly.

Who knew? Maybe I would have. And maybe he has been less an asshole than you were. I spat venomously.

My words cracked his smile, and he narrowed his eyes at me.

What the fuck did you just say? He snapped.

I believe your hearing isn't impaired, is it? I threw back with a glare.

He didn't respond, but continued watching me with the heaving chest.

His mate intervened at that moment. We should go. Obviously, she doesn't want us here. Sierra got up, and slid her arms into his.

Sierra, you look quite beautiful, I remarked in a tone which we both knew wasn't sincere.

Her smile faltered and just like Gabe, she threw me an angry look.

They both walked out of my ward seconds later, Sierra's stilettoes making clicking sounds as they left.

And as the door shut closed, I finally broke down in tears.

    CHAPTER 2

    Reene

I inhaled deeply, and leaned on the backrest. My hands, curled into fists were on my lap. I had just been discharged from the hospital, and my parents were driving me back home.

What would you like to eat, Reene? I told Cathy not to prepare anything yet, until we arrive. My mother turned towards me with a bright smile, as she asked.

Closing my eyes, I didn't give her a response immediately. And when my lips finally parted to speak, she hurriedly interrupted.

Don't tell me you are having nothing.. You know how Cathy is. My mother added. Her words made me swallow the rest of my words.

She was right. Cathy was the oldest cook at the Alpha's castle. She was one of the Omega of the Redwood pack, my pack. And she doted on me a lot. Of course, if I refused to eat, she would throw a fit.

Some spaghetti and soy sauce will do, I mumbled, and watched as my mother whipped out her cell phone. Probably to relay some orders to Cathy.

As our car drew nearer to our pack, I felt my palm getting sweaty. I gulped down nervously, trying to imagine what the pack members would think of me.

The pathetic Alpha's daughter couldn't handle a little bit of rejection from her supposed mate, and had to throw herself off the cliff.

Maybe theirs was better. The fact that I was going to see Gabe again scared the hell outta me.

Breathe, Reene. My mother placed a soft hand on mine, and smiled at me. I ignored my thoughts as I watched her toss her head to the side. She hadn't met my gaze since we left the hospital.

I cleared my throat, and turned towards the man at the driver's seat. My father, Dennison Hogan, Alpha of the Redwood pack. Although he hadn't spoken a word since we left the hospital, I knew what awaited me once we arrived.

Hours of counselling, and kind conversations. Conversations that I definitely didn't need. Hell, the ones I wouldn't need at all.

My thoughts were interrupted by the sudden jerk of our car. My body tumbled forward, and quickly gaining hold of myself, I grabbed the front seat.

What was that, Dennis? My mother, Wendy questioned with widened eyes.

    Potholes. Sorry. My father mumbled.

Are you fine? My mother turned towards me with worried eyes.

I'm good. I nodded, and looked away from her blue eyes. Eyes that were different from mine.

For whatever reason, I hadn't inherited my parent's eyes at all. I had deep blue and almost oceanic eyes. Paired with my white hair, I had almost turned to the outcast of the pack.

But my parents had declared that it was normal. And I had bought it. I was normal like everyone else in the pack.

We are here. My father announced, as he steered the car to the parking lot at the side of the Alpha's mansion.

I raised my head, and looked through the window. Yes, we had arrived.

I lay, huddled in the corner of my queen-sized bed, my back leaning comfortably on the headboard.

The door, however, chose to open at that moment, interrupting the little serenity I was basking in.

Hey sweetheart, Cathy smiled as she walked in. She bowed and straightening, she spoke with glittering eyes. A sharp contrast to my dull ones.

She hadn't spoken about my fall ever since we arrived, opting instead to serve the dishes she had prepared.

A gesture that I definitely appreciated.

The Alpha requests your presence downstairs. She said, and lowering her voice, she added,

He is with someone else. She shuddered.

That made me sit up. Someone else? Who is it? I drawled.

I heard him say, the Alpha of the Krypton pack. She replied. She bowed again and left the room. Her hurry was so great, that she almost tripped.

I scrambled out of bed. What was he doing here? Our pack wasn't big enough, so what was the Alpha of the most powerful pack doing at our pack house?

Without thinking, I rushed out of my room, and hurried downstairs.

Dad, I bowed as I rushed into the throne room, and turning to the man who was seated nonchalantly on the seat beside my father, my breath hitched.

He was putting on a silver mask, however, that did little or nothing to mask the beauty of his eyes. Damn, even his hair was a beauty to behold.

I didn't bother sitting, as I studied the specimen at my front. Rumors had it that Alpha Kaden was a ruthless and ugly Alpha who had a weak woman as his mate.

But then, even without seeing his full facial features, I could tell that the rumors were one hundred percent lies.

Are you done staring, princess? A husky voice interrupted my thoughts. I gulped embarrassedly and turned my face away.

Reene, I wanted you to be here, since you are the next Alpha. You need to know how negotiations work. My father spoke with a smile.

Lies. I knew what my father was trying to do of course. I had just lost a potential mate, and it was only fair to get another one. Especially if the latter was someone powerful. Very much more powerful than our pack.

Y...yes, I nodded not trusting myself to speak.

I bowed politely to the man, and nervously took a seat opposite theirs.

I wouldn't want to beat around the bush, Alpha Dennison. You know very well that I'm not here on a peace mission. Alpha Kaden began, watching my father with cold eyes.

Although the stare wasn't directed at me, I flinched.

My father winched visibly. Alpha Kaden, I can very well assure you that the one who shot one of your men did it out of defense. He's currently apprehended. My father beseeched in a soft tone.

And I don't care. What about you give me something else worth my time? Alpha Kaden spat coldly.

I hugged myself, as I felt the temperature in the hall drop down a few degrees.

And what is that? I could tell my father was nervous as he spoke.

Alpha Kaden slowly turned towards me,

    I want her.

And I literally felt my heart stop functioning.

    What in holy goddess's name?!

    CHAPTER 3

    Kaden

My lips curved in amusement as I watched the shocked look on her face. She quickly wiped it off her face, so quickly that it seemed like an illusion.

What do you want me for, Alpha Kaden? She questioned with a blank look.

I frowned at her change of expression. Instead of the admiring gleam in her eyes when she had stepped in earlier, a dull and resigned look was now evident in those blue eyes of hers.

Although I had begun admiring and checking her out when she had run into the hall where I had been conversing with her father, I hadn't let my emotions reflect on my face.

Not that anyone could see me though. I had a mask on my face after all.

Why? Are you questioning me right now? I threw back smugly.

Half expecting her to flinch just like her dad did at my words, she met my eyes with a bold and fierce look. She looked at me for a few seconds though, before she dipped her gaze submissively.

I almost smirked when I recalled the deserted and lone look on her face a few days back when she had thrown herself off the cliff. The same resigned look that I had spotted when I had dived in and saved her, placing her unconscious body at a spot close to the cliff.

Staring at her ruby red luscious lips and pale cheeks, my heart clenched in pain.

My wolf growled in annoyance, at the sight of her in pain.

Alpha Kaden, I hate to argue with you. But Reene isn't eighteen yet. Her inner wolf is still dormant. Alpha Dennison interrupted my little thoughts.

I frowned. He was right. I couldn't spot any wolf in her body. However, it didn't seem natural. I couldn't place what it was, and as quickly as the thought surfaced, I pushed it back.

Tomorrow is the full moon. I reminded.

Yes, Alpha Kaden. She'll awaken her inner wolf tomorrow. He nodded.

Is that an agreement? I threw a look at the obviously panicky Alpha.

She is the future Alpha of the Redwood pack. He desperately tried pointing out.

And he is the Beta of my pack, Alpha Dennison. Yet, he's lying in a vegetative state. I retorted with heat, as the lie flew naturally out of my mouth.

    My Beta wasn't that weak.

I will come with you, Reene whispered.

I turned my head towards her, and finally let out a chuckle.

What are you talking about, Reene?! Her father threw her a hard glare.

She ducked hers, and fidgeted nervously with her fingers instead. Biting her lower lip softly, she looked at her father,

We offended his pack, father. She mumbled.

The door to the hall opened at that moment, and we simultaneously turned to see who the intruder was.

I rolled my eyes. Back at Krypton Pack, no one would dare interrupt a session.

A young muscular man walked towards us, and bowed,

    Alpha Dennison. He greeted.

I frowned when my gaze landed on Reene. She was visibly shaking and her hands were tightly clenched, as she stared at the young man at her front.

Alpha Kaden, this is Gabe, the Beta of this pack. Alpha Dennison said.

I ignored both of them, and watched Reene... She didn't notice my stare, but the others did.

Alpha Kaden, you can take her if you want. She doesn't have a mate. Gabe smirked as he noticed my stare.

I leaned back on my chair, as Reene flared up.

You must be out of your mind, Gabe! She yelled with flaring nostrils.

Am I? The bulky young man named Gabe crossed his arms and threw her a triumphant look.

She was about to continue, when I calmly interrupted.

Can you repeat what you just said? My voice was calm, but infused with the Alpha's command.

It wasn't supposed to work considering the fact that they weren't my pack members. However, their pack was a small one compared to mine.

And obviously against his wish, as if he just realized that he had made a big mistake, he repeated word for word,

Alpha Kaden, you can take her if you want. She doesn't have a mate. His voice cracked at the end, and he took a step back.

I rose to my full height, mine overshadowing his, and he shrunk back.

Don't move. It seems Alpha Dennison has forgotten his manners considering the fact that he didn't introduce us well. I patted the large diamond ring on my index finger, the way I always did if I was trying to suppress my annoyance.

Just the way I was trying to suppress the raging anger in my heart, as Reene blinked back the tears she probably didn't know were visible.

I didn't know why, but the sudden urge to protect her engulfed me.

I focused my attention on Gabe, same time a foul smelling liquid enveloped the hall. Due to our sharp senses, we had a strong sense of smell. And I definitely knew what that smell was.

Gazing down at Gabe's lower region, and spotting the large patch of wetness on his black pants, I chuckled in amusement.

Be calm, Beta Gabe. I chuckled.

I...I'm sorry, Alpha... He trailed off as if a sudden realization just hit him.

The Alpha of the Krypton pack? He asked in fear.

Without waiting for my response, he threw himself on the hard floor with a thud, and kowtowed.

Pardon my words, Alpha Kaden. He remained in that position.

I looked at Reene, and noticed that her shoulders were now relaxed and a shadow of a smile crossed her face.

    Good.

I believe that shouldn't be directed at me, Turning towards Alpha Dennison, I added,

Since the Alpha is comfortable with his daughter being insulted. I shrugged and sat down.

Alpha Dennison got the message. He cleared his throat embarrassedly, and ordered Gabe to apologize to Reene.

Throwing an uninterested look at them, she smiled at me.

I got up, and cleared my throat. I'll be back a day after tomorrow. And then, I'll take Reene away until my Beta recovers. For now, I'll leave. I nodded at her and moved towards the door.

Turning the doorknob, and on impulse, I turned towards her direction,

You don't have a retentive memory, do you? The least you should do is remember my scent. Seeing the confused look on her face, I smirked and left the hall.

    CHAPTER 4

    Reene

Nervousness enveloped my being like a thick, uncomfortable blanket, as I stared down at the entire pack from my window.

I looked up at the sky. The moon was minutes from hanging fully in the sky. Bright stars were scattered across the darkened sky, creating a beautiful sight.

Maybe the beauty would have been much appreciated by me, in a different situation from tonight's. I cleared my throat yet again, wiping my sweaty palm on my black dress.

I didn't know why I was nervous though. I had always looked forward to this day. The day when I get to awaken my inner wolf. However, as the time drew nearer, I found myself blinking the countless number of times, my heart thumping against my chest.

'Breathe, Reene. You can do this.' I exhaled sharply.

I looked down, jealous at the way some of the pack mates all held their partners. A bonfire had been set up at the clearing where they all gathered.

I craned my neck, trying to catch a glimpse of Gabe and his bitchy mate Sierra. When I finally did, I twisted my face in disgust.

He was dressed in a plain white shirt and matching pants. In sharp contrast, Sierra was dressed in a black dress.

At the thought that we were dressed in the same color of dress, I suddenly felt that black wasn't appealing anymore.

Thinking about the way he had been embarrassed by Alpha Kaden the previous day, a broad smile spread across my face.

Suddenly, the chatter died down, and when I looked down again, my father was addressing the pack. I could hear what he was saying from my position.

Welcome family. Tonight as we all know, in accordance with the Redwood's tradition, and all other packs, we'll be having a pack run. Today is also the day when our young females get to awaken their inner wolves. And that includes my daughter. He paused, and looked up at my window.

I smiled and waved. He waved back, and I sighed, knowing it was seconds before the both of them would come upstairs to invite me down.

I patted my chest, and closed my eyes. They fluttered open when I heard a sharp movement behind me.

I frowned, and whirled around. I hadn't heard the door open.

Mother? I arched my brow, throwing a questioning look at her.

Right at my front, was my mother with a weird look on her face. My frown deepened.

Hey mum, calm down. I'm no longer nervous. Besides, where's Dad? We agreed to head downstairs together, didn't we? I smiled, trying to ignore the gnawing feeling of fear that tugged at my innards.

She didn't respond, and only smiled.

Mum? What's wrong? I watched her closely as I asked. She had her hair in braids tonight, tying black ribbons at the ends.

Maybe I would have joked about how childish she looked if I wasn't unnerved by the discomfiting aura she was oozing.

Nothing, sweetie. He's on his way here. She winked.

Wanting to ask about the person she was referring to, the words died in my throat when my father came into the room.

    Dad, you are finally-

I flinched when he smiled at me. Hell, I could differentiate a friendly smile from an unwelcoming one.

How are you feeling, dear Reene? He asked with a smile.

Oh, totally nervous. Aside from the sudden tiredness and headache, I can't- I stopped my rambling as his smile spread.

You aren't talking about tonight, are you? I winced.

Of course, I'm talking about tonight, sweetie. You don't feel nauseous, or anything of the sort? He crossed his arms, and walked over to my mother.

I fell to my knees as a sudden pain tore through my stomach. Beads of sweat were beginning to form on my forehead.

As the pain doubled, I could only choke out one word, Why?

Why? I didn't know you had a sense of humor, Reene. Alpha Dennison supported his wife to my bed and helped her sit. Then he turned towards me again.

But then, that's a wrong question, Reene. Why don't we begin with 'what?' I mean, it will be very unfair if you cross over to the other side of the world without knowing what actually caused your death. He clicked his tongue.

I coughed violently, and forcing myself to look at him, I winced when I saw the look of hatred in his eyes.

Rather than the pain that was threatening to swallow me whole, I was pained by the fact that I was going to die right on my birthday. Killed by no one but my very parents.

You should know by now, that you have been poisoned. Since when, dear mate? He turned to my mother.

The day the prophecy was given. She replied in an icy tone that matched my father's.

Prophecy? What prophe- I couldn't complete my words, because the next minute, I sprawled on the floor, coughing out some reddish liquid.

You don't have to know that. The important fact is that, you'll die this night. And this is where we say goodbye, dear daughter. A few minutes from now, you'll be dead, and no one will ever suspect us. Who would believe the fact that we killed you? He asked tauntingly.

I shuddered. He was right. No one will ever know...

I gasped as I clutched at the weakening rope of my life. I couldn't die just yet. I had unanswered questions...

Goodbye, pathetic Reene. He helped my mother up, and they headed out of the room. And then he turned, Say goodbye to your parents for me. Opening the door, they left.

Tears spilled out of my eyes, as my vision turned blurry. Fear gnawed at my heart, as his words replayed in my head.

I was going to die... I was going to die...

But then, steadying my breath, I whispered with the venom I didn't know I could spout.

If given another chance at life, I'll destroy you all. The ones who made me cry and the ones who made me die. Hell shall hold no candle to your lives. Hades shall be your companion, as long as I live. As the last words left my throat, I felt my body turn light.

I felt my consciousness ebbing away, and I let myself go. But not before I heard the sudden claps of thunder that resounded around the whole pack.

Same time white moonbeam seeped through the windows of my room.

    'Till we meet again.'

    CHAPTER 5

    Reene

Indescribable pain tore through my whole body the moment I opened my eyes. The pain could almost be likened to countless sharp needles pricking one's skin.

I made to sit up on the bed, but then I quickly found out that my body was numb. It felt almost like lead...

Looking around, I could see maids moving in and out of the foreign looking room.

At the thought, I looked closely again. This was definitely not a room at Redwood. So, where was I? The room was a dark grey colored one. The blinds and shutters had been pulled down, giving the room a serenity I never had at my own pack.

It was then I felt the soft texture of the bed I was lying on. Everything screamed riches and opulence. Where in goddess's name was I?

Hey, I croaked, my voice as parched as the sands of a desert.

A uniformed maid turned and walked over to me with a bored look.

Luna Amber, you are awake? She drawled.

Where is this place? I coughed as I asked.

Did you lose your memory too? Her mouth hung open as she asked.

Are you speaking to the Luna of the pack, like that? A voice interrupted.

The former flinched and quickly bowed. Pardon my insolence...

When I turned towards the source of the earlier voice, I spotted a young looking woman at the door. Her lips were curved in a taunting sneer. Blonde, she was, with wavy curls. Dressed in a tight black fitting pants, she emitted an intimidating aura.

And that was when I noticed that the maid's bow wasn't directed at me, but rather at her.

What was happening? My lips parted to speak, when the memories came gushing in.

I felt my consciousness slipping away. Sneers, laughs of contempt, and all but pity filled my ears as I fell unconscious.

And then, a voice spoke in my mind. You've been given another shot at life. However, for your revenge to be more purposeful, the body you are currently in, isn't yours. You've possessed the body of a very weak Luna who was killed by her enemy in the pack. While you are having your revenge, you must focus on not getting killed the second time.

    Then it faded...

Are you awake now? A voice tugged at my consciousness.

I opened my eyes, my gaze landing on a masked figure...

    Looking closely, I gasped.

Alpha Kaden? I questioned with an iota of doubt.

Did falling from the stairs induce amnesia? He asked with a chuckle.

    I shuddered. What was this?

I had been reborn. However, not as Reene but Alpha's Kaden mate? The weak Luna of the Krypton pack?

Wasn't this the same man who wanted to take me away from my pack, just a few days ago?

At the thought, I wondered what would happen later when Alpha Kaden returned to my pack.

Dinner would be brought to you later. He said and left the room without taking another look at me.

I closed my eyes to relive the memories of the new body I had possessed. The owner was dead. The fall had been disastrous and she wasn't supposed to wake up.

But then, even she couldn't tell who pushed her.

A cold glint crossed my eyes. I was going to get my revenge... And at the same time, I was going to deal with the members of this pack.

I forced myself off the bed, and stumbled to the bathroom. I blinked and shrieked when my gaze landed on the figure in the mirror.

    Holy goddess. I gasped.

And that was because the figure in the mirror looked breathtakingly... beautiful.

What are you doing in the bathroom, all by yourself, Luna Amber? A familiar voice asked.

Turning, my gaze landed on the blonde lady from earlier on.

And how is that your business, Kathy? I threw back, crossing my arms.

She took a step back, surprise written all over her face.

I supposed, that was a good thing. Because the oncoming days were going to be hell for whoever tried to trample on me.

    CHAPTER 6

    Reene

Are you out of your fucking mind? Kathy growled, her beautiful face contorting into a funny mask. Goddess knew how much self control I had to muster, not to laugh.

She took quick steps towards me, and raised her hands.

You wouldn't dare. Although my voice was calm, the chilliness in it, couldn't be masked.

My words stilled her hands which were already making their way down towards my face.

She paused and stared at me, nostrils flaring, and breathing harshly.

It seems your little fall has made you forget your status in this pack, sister. She snickered.

I chuckled at the sheer irony of her words. To think that the one who killed the owner of this body was her very own sister. A sense of solidarity at the fact that our deaths were almost alike, enveloped me.

I was killed by my family, and she was killed by hers.

Good thing your brain is still in good condition, dear younger sister. I remarked, placing emphasis on the 'sister,' and winking at her.

Whatever games you are trying to play, you should know that you are just a weak and pathetic Luna, who can't even shift into a wolf. She spat, and arched her brow.

My face closed up, my hands curling into fists at my side. You should know more than anyone, what the problem is, I said calmly, watching her face closely.

I... Her eyes widened, and quickly regaining a hold of herself, she added,

What are you talking about? Focus on awakening your wolf, and stop your ridiculous accusations. She retorted.

Accusations? What are you talking about, dear sister? I was talking about a different thing altogether. I crossed my arms, and threw her a grin.

Or... I added taking a step towards her. ...are you guilty of something? I stopped right at her front, so close, that I could feel her annoyingly hot breath on my face.

Guilty? You are becoming more courageous, aren't you? This 'little' fall of yours has done you a world of good, hasn't it? Well, a little reminder wouldn't hurt. The pack run is in a week's time, and as the Alpha has announced, if you can't awaken your wolf before then, you should consider your Luna status as gone. She wiggled her eyebrow tauntingly.

I giggled inwardly. Her words were provocative, yes. It might have worked on the former Luna Amber. But me? She wasn't up to par.

Right, you just reminded me. That means you would become the new Luna, no? I grinned.

She didn't give a response immediately, her eyes curiously watching me.

Of course, I will. And once I become the new Luna, you would be ousted from this pack. You should probably be scouting for a pack to house you. Maybe the Redwood pack... It's a small pack, and the kind of place you belong. She winked.

I gasped, and inhaled sharply. Her words stung, invoking memories I was trying so hard to forget, for now. Not until I had formulated a good revenge plan.

What? Touched some nerve? Have you suddenly become timid? She laughed in glee, probably happy at the look on my face.

Maybe...I was considering if that is the pack you would like to go, after the pack run. My words were calm, however, it effectively shut her up.

Acting smug, aren't you? Let's see how you can keep that up when I become the Luna of this pack. She growled.

Dream big, dear sister. And yes, tell Mother that I would visit her, today. I said.

She was about to leave when I spoke. Whirling around, she threw me a constipated look. What?

I believe, both ears of yours are in a very good condition. So, would you like me to repeat my words again? I shrugged.

You...! She yelled, her chest heaving. Suppressing the urge to laugh, I stared at her with a straight face.

What do you want to see Mum for? And are you sure you can? Her last words were sarcastic, reminding me of the strain between my mother and me.

Can? She's my mother, isn't she? Don't forget to relay my message. I don't want her acting all shocked when I visit." I said smugly.

Seconds later, she harrumphed and left the bathroom.

As the door shut closed, I turned towards the mirror once more. However, the refreshed memories wouldn't just go away.

The Redwood pack, my pack... And their Alpha, my father was the one I was going to unleash my revenge on. I was going to destroy them, just like I had promised before my death.

I sighed, my hands inching towards my clothes. Taking each piece off, I was soon standing in my nude glory. I marveled at the beauty reflected in the mirror.

The dead Luna Amber was truly a beauty. With curves
