CHAPTER 38
Angie's POV
My eyes fell on Gilbert and an old woman was talking to him.
Yup, I saw them when Gilbert passed by my hut. I was awake and about to spend the night at Crystal Lake. However, seeing Gilbert looking hastily in his wolf form, made me curious, and followed him from behind.
But… the conversation between them raised a lot of question marks in my head!
I didn't hear wrong, did I?
Does he say he wants to kill me?
Who is this woman?
Who is Gilbert?!
Angie! Quickly hide!
I hid behind a big tree, following what Giga said. Not long after, the figure of the old woman flashed.
Shall we just follow her?
That's a good idea as well as a bad one, but it's best not to, Angie...
I don't know why my curiosity couldn't contain the desire. Without listening to Giga's words, I followed the old woman.
Of course, I was cautious not to make any noise.
Why did you follow her?
I wonder who she is!
This old woman walked very fast. I looked back and forth alternately. Gilbert didn't seem to have moved from Crystal Lake. This was enough to keep me safe. You can imagine how difficult it is to keep the distance between the back and front.
What if she kills you as she said just now?!
She asked for Gilbert! So she won't do it! After all, she doesn't know we're following her!
Near the intersection leading towards the Blood Catcher mansion and other directions, the old woman suddenly stopped. I hid behind the tree again and watched her.
The old woman seemed to look back, and a moment later, a black light came out around her body.
Did she turn into smoke?
I don't know, Giga! if that happens, it means we've lost track of it! Who wants to identify the smoke?!
Slowly, the black smoke that surrounded her disappeared! The figure of the black-robed old woman was no longer visible. Now the long loose hair looks gorgeous. The body was so slim with jeans and a red jacket.
Did she change her form?!
I don't know, Giga… I wish she had turned her face for a moment!
My wish came true right away! She turned her head for a moment, and what I saw now was Jenny!
SHIT!
I can't hide my surprise! I screamed and made the old woman turn around. Luckily, my reflexes are excellent, so I lay down directly among the bushes near the tree where I was hiding.
Are you crazy, Angie?! You want her to know where you are?!
There was the sound of approaching footsteps. Sweat began to drip down my body, and it felt like life and death were at the tip of my throat. I didn't dare to open my eyes, and I tried my best to control my breathing which was getting faster and heavier.
A few moments passed, and the footsteps sounded distant. I opened my eyes and looked at the old woman. It seems like she's gone back. One thing I found now is that she is floating!
My heart is still beating fast because I remember the changes that had happened to her. I stood up and came out of my hiding place.
Giga! she actually disappeared and floated! I didn't see it wrong, did I?!
Yeah, you didn't see it wrong. The old woman actually turned into Jenny and flew away. She's like an angel of death!
Angie?!
No sign, footstep, or anything else. Suddenly, Gilbert appeared behind me, greeting me loudly.
It's always been like this! Your life is sometimes like a drama movie! Someone just comes at a crucial time!
What should I do now, Giga?
Stay calm!
Y-yes, Gilbert. What's up?
Gilbert furrowed his brow, his now dark brown eyes looking intently at me.
What are you doing here? You want to go to the mansion?
Just answer, yes! He won't be suspicious if you make excuses like that!
Yes! I want to go around the mansion's backyard. For some reason, I can't sleep and it feels so beautiful tonight. The moon is also very beautiful.
Honestly, I don't know the correlation between the moon and my desire to come to the mansion's courtyard. I hope he doesn't notice my nervousness.
Well, okay.
Gilbert then walked away in front of me. He's so weird! He doesn't usually ignore me like this. My emotions have started to gather and beg to spit out.
Hold your temper, Angie! Don't shout and shower him with questions about what you heard just now! You have to be able to endure it!
I took a deep breath and shouted, GILBERT! WHERE ARE YOU FROM?!
Gilbert stopped in his tracks and faced me with an expressionless face.
Crystal Lake, why?
He is entirely different!
I'm sure he's confused, Angie! He may be acting cold because the old woman's orders are weighing him down….
I hate all of this, Giga!
You have to be able to keep your anger, we have to break it slowly!
You want me to die once again in vain?!
Is there anything important, Angie? If not, maybe we can talk tomorrow. I'm tired and want to rest,
Gilbert said coldly.
Suddenly a strong wind blew and a chill shot straight into my bones. I looked up at the sky. Nothing strange happened. All still seemed calm.
Angie, go back to your hut. Get some rest, I'll visit you tomorrow, and don't come out until I pick you up. Do you understand?
Gilbert asked.
I swallowed my saliva. My heart started to wonder, was this part of his plan to kill me?
Why should I follow your rules? Don't come out before you pick me up? What do you want to do?
Just do what I say! Go on, Angie! This is all for your safety!
Gilbert shrieked loudly.
Hurry up, Angie! Just go back to the hut!
Why are you also supporting, Gilbert?! Did you forget he was ordered to kill me?!
That's not the point! You don't feel this terrible wind?!
I nodded, and without a word, I turned my body and changed my form into a wolf. But, on the other hand, when I turned around, Gilbert was already running fast.
What's going on?
CHAPTER 39
Angie's POV
I couldn't sleep last night thinking about everything I've seen. Old woman? Gilbert? Kill me? What the hell is going on?
He's coming, Angie.
Who?
Gilbert, he's close to our hut.
Sure enough, knocking on the door was heard shortly after Giga said that.
Am I going to die today?
Not, I don't feel any bad aura coming with Gilbert.
Angie?
shouted Gilbert from the doorway.
I immediately rose from my position and adjusted my breathing to not look like someone waiting for death.
Angie? Are you in there?!
Gilbert's knocks and screams got louder and louder. He wasn't usually like this.
As soon as the door opened, Gilbert immediately took a deep breath and put on a relieved face as if letting go of some of his life's burdens.
What happened, Gilbert?
Nothing, may I come in?
Sure.
Gilbert stepped in. When I closed the door, he turned and said, Lock the door.
He looks so serious and different, Angie. I'm sure he's worried about you.
Perhaps to be more precise, he was worried that someone might see the corpse of a young woman in this cabin.
Come on, Angie. Don't always create bad perceptions that you make yourself.
Gilbert's movements did look suspicious. He scanned the cabin as if he wanted to ensure it was safe to kill me.
Why are you checking all these rooms, Gilbert?
Is this something wrong? I'm just making sure nothing bad happens here, Angie.
The feeling of tightness is getting more volatile because of what has bound my soul since last night. I couldn't control it, and my mouth started rebuking him with various questions.
Who is the old woman?
Angie!
It's about time, Giga! I can't if I have to share kindness with a traitor! I don't want to feel hurt a second time!
What do you mean?
Gilbert asked. Suddenly he stopped his activities which had been busy watching around the hut. Instead, the sharp gaze began to be directed at me.
Kill her, Gilbert. You remember that sentence?
What the hell, Angie? Don't make me wonder with this weird question of yours,
Gilbert replied. This time his tone had risen a bit.
What happened, Gilbert? Have you got anything planned for me? Am I just a victim for you and your glory? You don't have to hide what happened last night because I heard it clearly.
Gilbert didn't budge. His gaze was still fixed on me. I'm vigilant and ready to change into black wolf form if he wants to attack me.
I already guessed. I couldn't believe it when you said you wanted to go to the mansion to enjoy the night air. You're lying, Angie. What did you hear? I'm sure your ears are wrong. There is no sentence like you said just now….
There's no need to make excuses, Gilbert! Everything is clear, I heard how she pressured you to kill me!
The atmosphere is quiet for a moment. Then, Gilbert was seen clenching his fists.
Listen, Angie. It's all just a misunderstanding. We're not talking about you, all is well. You're safe,
Gilbert said.
Indeed that sentence is like gibberish to my ears.
Shut up, Gilbert! What are you hiding from me?! What exactly is your plan? If you were aiming for my life from the start, you shouldn't bother pretending to be nice!
I'm not pretending to be nice, Angie! You are my mate! I love you and I can't possibly kill you! Everything you hear is not true!
Gilbert's face turned red, and I could see his emotions ignite from the look in his fiery eyes.
Calm down, Angie… try to listen to Gilbert's explanation.
What other explanation? You can't always see the bad side of Gilbert, Giga! Are you willing if I have to die a second time because of meeting the wrong person?!
To be honest, I don't see anything bad about Gilbert right now, Angie… that's why I want you to stay calm and listen to Gilbert….
If it's all wrong, can you explain to me who the old woman is? And why did she turn into Jenny?
Gilbert frowned and looked confused. He then said, Jenny?
Yeah, when you found me standing in the middle of the forest, I just saw the old woman turn into Jenny! You're in cahoots with Jenny? How pitiful you are!
I never found out about Jenny and I have no interest in working with that woman! Stop acting like a child, Angie! You don't always have to know what you see!
Gilbert said, his emotions showing more and more now.
Of course, I shouldn't know because I'm the target of both of you! You framed me for Jenny, Gilbert! I know--.
YOU DON’T KNOW ANYTHING, ANGIE! STOP ALL THIS FUCKING THOUGHTS! I WILL NOT EXPLAIN ANYTHING BECAUSE IT IS NOT WHAT YOU THINK, DO YOU GET IT?!
I don't want to give up. I didn't just stop. I want to get answers and the truth for everything that has happened.
You'd better get over it, Angie. Let there be no fighting here, I can see if Gilbert didn't have that bad plan…
I don't care, Giga! I need his honesty!
Gilbert's breathing was heavy, his chest heaving from holding back anger at me. Honestly, he looks pretty awful right now.
How about we just fight, Gilbert? I'd be willing to be killed for a fight rather than a victim of the deal you made with Jenny. I don't want to die in a situation that benefits the both of you, you're as disgusting as Gray now!
Gilbert bullied me with a terrible groan. The fangs were then visible from inside his mouth. However, it didn't last long, after which Gilbert reorganized himself, to be expected.
I don't want to do that, Angie. Enough with all this bullshit, if you still want to force me to tell you all that then you can get out of my pack, Angie.
Why did he hide it? With him kicking me out like this, wouldn't it just make it stronger if something happened between him and Jenny or the old woman?
Stop it, Angie. If we leave here then--
Okay, I'll get out of your pack, Gilbert!
Yup, this is the best answer.
CHAPTER 40
Gilbert's POV
I didn't mean it, I swear. I never wanted to say anything to hurt Angie.
Hiro, help me.
I don't know, Gilbert. All of this has become a consequence of your words. After all, if you want him to survive the old witch, maybe you should just let him go, right?
I don't want to see Angie go! I love her, Hiro! I don't want us to separate!
"Then you must kill her, if you choose her to stay with you, Gilbert. You can't ignore the words of the old
