THE STORY SO FAR: After music teacher Blake Dixon persuades his former bandmate and now famous singer Kayla Gayle to perform at his school’s sixth form prom, things quickly go from bad to disastrous when she fails to appear. Later, DI Casey Clunes receives a callout to the hospital as Kayla has fallen unconscious after being attacked. A search in Keeper’s Wood, where it happened, has revealed Kayla’s phone and a book of matches. The matches bear the name Jacko, an erstwhile member of Class Mates, the band Kayla once belonged to, and a man with a criminal record. While PC Kitty Thorpe goes looking for him, Casey pays a visit to Blake at the school, where she learns more about the band. Meanwhile, PC Thorpe discovers that Jacko has vanished from his cafe. Suspicious of his sudden disappearance, she calls Casey. They need to find Jacko urgently.

He was determined to have it out with Izzie. His girlfriend had been avoiding him for too long. Blake knew that he’d be able to find her in her classroom, preparing her lessons for the day. There she was, sitting at her desk, head bent, deep in concentration. Taking a deep breath, he pushed open the door.

‘Blake!’

His sudden appearance had startled her. It was clear she didn’t want him there. But he didn’t care.

‘We need to talk,’ he said.
