The child of psychologically unhealthy parents also participates in a similar multigenerational pattern. As an adult, you would develop codependency traits or become a codependent. You would be attracted to a lover who reminded you of your narcissistic parent, an emotional manipulator.

The relationship guide that your parents provided you with as a child will ultimately lead you to your future partners. If you were unable to make your parents feel good about themselves, you would be subjected to deprivation, neglect, and/or abuse.

Analogies and metaphors are used in psychotherapy to assist clients with complicated and painful emotional concepts. They reduce complex ideas into relatable explanations, taking difficult to comprehend intellectual concepts and communicating them more effectively.

The use of an analogy or metaphor is especially helpful when working with trauma victims, such as adults who were raised by a neglectful and/or abusive emotional manipulator. A well-placed analogy or metaphor can facilitate an unrealized emotional connection or intellectual understanding of an anxiety-provoking memory.

The codependent and emotional manipulator are a perfect match, as they are well-matched dysfunctional partners who perform beautifully on the dance floor due to their complementary and well-matched personalities.
