The Instant & Rapid Hypnosis Guide - Steve Leap
Instant Inductions
Introduction
This book is intended as a follow on from my other two books, firstly, 'How to hypnotise, stage street and therapy' will give you the foundations you need to be a great hypnotist in any circumstances. It allows you to develop from just being an interested observer to a competent hypnotist.
My second book is intended as a reference book for the future. Anytime you are unsure about the terminology or meaning of hypnotic words or phrases you can turn to 'Hypnosis A to Z'.
Now this, my third book, will grow your skills to the next level. Once you can implement the procedures in this book you will truly be a master of the art of hypnosis.
You can of course use this book as a standalone without any prior knowledge. To enable you to do that I have included some underpinning facts about hypnosis.
These facts are only brief, just enough to give you a basic understanding of what goes on with the subject during the process because this particular book is designed for advanced users.
Rapid Inductions are hypnotic inductions that take just a few minutes from beginning to end. Usually a rapid induction will take no longer than about sixty seconds.
If it takes more than two minutes you are probably doing too much. If it takes more than five minutes it's not to be considered a rapid induction rather that you are failing!
The exception of course is if your particular routine demands a lot of hocus pocus type of flair as is popular with the TV mentalists.
The success of these rapid and instant inductions relies completely on the subject being convinced that they are going to be hypnotised.
To create this state where the subject is convinced is where your pre-talk and especially the suggestibility tests come into their own. The added bonus of using the tests is that others watching will not only be convinced that the subject is going to be hypnotised but it will increase the likelihood that they themselves will be hypnotised should the opportunity arise.
The best way to do a rapid induction is straight from the suggestibility tests although if you can see you have a particularly susceptible subject you can go straight from the pre-talk.
When you become truly proficient you will be able to do instant inductions on people completely cold.
Instant inductions are exactly what they say they are. You hypnotise someone in an instant, usually under three seconds. Sometimes it may take a little longer but if it's longer than ten then you need to rethink what you are doing.
When either rapid or instant inductions take longer than expected it's usually nothing more than a confidence block for the hypnotist. Sometimes no matter how many times we see him performed the hypnotist just has a small element of doubt in his own ability. This doubt tends to make hypnotists just say too much or take too much time in setting up the physical side of things.
Trust the ability of your subject to go into trance instantly and it will happen! There will occasionally be the exception that proves the rule and every so often you'll do a hand drop and command 'sleep!' and the subject will be sitting or standing there in front of you with his eyes wide open firmly stuck in the here and now. This thought will be a rare occurrence if you follow the instructions in this book faithfully.
What Hypnosis Is
Hypnosis is the state of mind in which a person is more open to suggestion than they may usually be.
Imagine a very large office block and on the top floor is the CEO's office. Any instructions coming out of this office to the rest of the company are obeyed as if they have come from God himself. These are the policies of the company.
Usually getting a new suggestion or new company policy into that office is hard work because outside the door to the CEO's office is his secretary. Anyone wanting access into the office has to go through her. So effectively no one gets in, and new policies are not put into place ever!
So in order to get a new policy or suggestion to the CEO’s office we have to somehow bypass his pit-bull of a secretary. Hypnosis is the process of doing just that. Getting into the office unseen and sneaking a new policy into a filing cabinet.
Induction Types
There are many ways to bypass the secretary as you will have read in my other books. But in this edition we are looking at rapid and instant inductions so let’s see what happens.
Shock induction
We frighten the secretary just for a second and whilst she freezes for that merest of moments we dart around her and enter the office.
Confusion induction
We give the secretary so many tasks to complete in a very short space of time that she cannot keep up.
As she becomes increasingly confused she sort of gives up in an effort to collect her thoughts, when she does this she slumps down in her chair, again for just a second, and again you're in.
Pattern interrupt
We approach the secretary and initiate contact in such a way that she is forced by habit and social grace to respond back to you in a certain way. As she is about to respond you interrupt the process.
For the secretary there is a moment of indecision and at that precise moment we slip into the office once again.
Have you ever been in a situation where you have had a fright and at the precise same time someone makes a suggestion?
I was once standing out in the street and there was a loud bang quite close by from the back of a delivery van as something fell over.
At exactly the same time a man passing by said to me ‘ The post office is this way right’ as he pointed out. I immediately replied ‘yes’ without even thinking. It took quite a few seconds before I realised that the post office was not the way he had pointed it out. I turned to my wife and said ‘I just told that guy the wrong directions, I was in shock at hearing that loud bang’. So you see for just a moment I was hypnotised and agreed with a suggestion. That is the essence of a shock induction
One of the phenomena associated with instant inductions is that the faster the subject goes into trance the deeper they go. The flip side of this very useful coin is that the faster they go in the quicker they come back out again. Once the trance is induced you must continue with deepeners immediately otherwise they will be back with you in the here and now so quickly they will appear to have never been gone in the first place.
Safety
As you should know there is nothing dangerous about
