    Self Hypnosis - Rita Gilbert

    Introduction

Everyone has probably heard of the stories of a man or woman who, with the suggestion of their voice, made others do whatever they wanted them to do.  I am sure that you have heard stories of people being made to cluck like a chicken or do some strange actions like taking off their shoes or dancing on a table with the mention of a single word.

Well, if you have, then these would have probably been stories about hypnosis and hypnotists, that is, people who can use hypnosis to make other people do whatever they want (or anything they want) with the use of a single word.

You are most likely all aware by now what hypnosis is and how it is used, if not from personal experience, then from watching movies and cartoons where the swinging pendulum is used to instantly hypnotize someone and then either play tricks on them or use it for some foul play, like in Woody Allen's movie The Curse of the Jade Scorpion. I do not know whether you have seen this movie, but the mere mention of the term hypnosis instantly reminds me of this movie.

Namely, what I find interesting in this movie is that the character played by Woody Allen, an insurance investigator, considers himself to be an intellectual and a strong person who is not prone to suggestion and who therefore does not believe in hypnosis. Yet, to his surprise, he is hypnotized and made steal jewelry at the mention of a single word. This is why all of you who have qualms about hypnosis should try it at least once before reaching a conclusion on its power and effects.

Hypnosis is defined as a process through which the mind enters a state of openness to greater suggestibility. The hypnotic state can be induced in various ways and it is primarily used to provide beneficial suggestions to the subconscious mind to improve your body and mind. Still, if you do not have the money and/or the time to go to a professional hypnotist and if you are afraid of hypnosis because it is a bit intimidating when someone else controls your every move and can make even a fool of yourself if you are hypnotized for entertainment purposes like in front of an audience, then self-hypnosis is ideal for you.

Self-hypnosis is a process of an individual causing hypnotic induction without any assistance. When it comes to self-hypnosis, you need to know that it is just like ordinary hypnosis, but there is no hypnotizer who hypnotizes you in his premises or in front of an audience, no psychiatrist who hypnotizes you in his office for psychiatric treatment purposes and there is no other professional hypnotherapist who hypnotizes you for various reasons.

In addition to performing self-hypnosis yourself, you can do it wherever you want and whenever you want, depending on your needs. All you need is a secluded spot, that is, a quiet and isolated place either in your home or at work or outside in your garden or in any other tranquil environment, like a wood, a lakeshore, a seaside, wherever suits you.

In this book we will explore the world of hypnosis, explain its uses and benefits and we will give you 33 outstanding self-hypnosis techniques that you can use to engage in relaxation and solve various problems that you have by inducing a hypnotic state.

For self-hypnosis to succeed you need to want to be hypnotized, rather than be afraid or skeptical over hypnosis, and to let yourself go, rather than focus on all the hypnotic processes.

Therefore, anyone can develop this skill through practice, patience and with goodwill. You can use self-hypnosis to ease stress, quit smoking, lose weight, become self-confident and improve your physical and mental capacities in general.

Remember that self-hypnosis requires patience and constant practice to perfect it. So, if the first time you do it, it is not perfect, do not despair, but try again. You will be amazed by the outcome!
