Chapter 1
Georgina looked at the diamond ring that encircled the third finger of her left hand. It was exquisite, and she loved it almost as much as the man who had given it to her.
Joseph Flint was a man who knew what he wanted, and he had never given up trying to win the affection and hand of his partner in business, Georgina Baxter. At first it had been an uphill battle, but his perseverance had paid off and he couldn’t have been happier. All he had to do now was get her to agree on a date for their nuptials.
Which would you prefer, George,
he asked, a spring wedding or one a little later, say September?
Head to one side, her brow furrowed, Georgina considered the question. I haven’t really given it much thought Joe,
she admitted, there’s no rush is there? After all, we’ve only just gotten engaged. There’s plenty of time to think about it, it’s not as if either of us is going anywhere.
No, you’re right. However, I had thought about booking a honeymoon cruise to the Bahamas, but if you would rather spend seven days away, say on the east coast, Skegness or Mablethorpe, I don’t mind.
I didn’t say I didn’t want to go on a cruise to the Bahamas. I think it’s a great idea, and It’s one place I’ve never been,
she said.
Good, I’ll ring the travel agent and book it, shall I?
Georgina hunched her shoulders. I suppose it wouldn’t hurt to find out the price of a cruise to the Bahamas. I’ll leave it to you.
Less than fifteen minutes later, a smile a mile wide on his face, Flint said, That’s it then.
He walked over to where Georgina was standing and put his arm around her shoulder. Honeymoon suite all booked and paid for sailing Easter Sunday,
he said. All we have to do now is make an appointment to see the vicar at St. Cyprians and get the bans read.
For a split-second Georgina stood speechless, then it dawned on her what had just taken place, what she had inadvertently agreed to. You devious devil you have done it again, haven’t you?
she yelled.
Done what, darling?
Flint looked a picture of innocence.
