    Chapter One

    For two hundred years, Ambrosia had been the shining example on how an angel should be and it took everything out of her to do it, just to make her parents proud. Both her mother and father pointing to Ambrosia as an example to her younger siblings if they should step out of line.

    No pressure at all, she whispered to herself staring out at the city where her life had changed, Winona, Minnesota.

    Who would have thought a small hick town had such a dark cloud hanging over it. It had taken her sixty years and her family turning on her when they had found out what had happened.

    Yes, now she was considered dirty, unclean, and dead to them, well most of her family. Her elder brother and sister had been the ones to come to her, saving her life. That little myth that angels were immortal was a lie. Sure, they lived a very long life, but just like that of the humans they could be killed, and she would have died that night.

    If her older brother hadn’t been there for her...she sighed, the memory of that night coming back to her like it was yesterday. Tears filled her eyes remembering that one fateful night. A very hard lesson to learn, she said, glancing towards the picture of her, her sister and her brother.

    "You okay?" her brother, Jericho asked inside her head. He and her sister both now had a connection through blood, since it was them that allowed her to feed off when she had been changed.

    "I’m fine, just remembering that night. I don’t know what I would have done without you and Aimee," she informed him.

    Well, you don’t have to worry. We’ll be here for you, Aimee said. You nervous about the meeting tonight?

    Who wouldn’t be? The last person that represented the council I had to kill, she shivered seeing the red eyes of the monster.
