THE STORY SO FAR: After borrowing her savings, Nora’s former partner David vanished, leaving her struggling to keep things going. She finds herself in trouble when her new B&B guest Jasmine tells her boss Stella that she’s out doing a cleaning job when she’s meant to be working from home. Finally coming to terms with being deceived, Nora takes legal advice and texts David, telling him to return her money or she will take legal action. The following week, Nora loses the cleaning job after being accused of spreading gossip about her employer Marie. Then Nora arrives at work one morning to find a disciplinary meeting has been set up for her because someone has anonymously accused her of being indiscreet about her work in HR. She is sure David is behind it, trying to cause trouble so she’ll be put off from pursuing the debt. But how can she prove it and clear her name if she can’t track him down?

Nora pulled up on the drive and rested her hands on the steering wheel. She stared at the house she was trying so desperately hard to hang on to and wondered how much more she could take.

David hadn’t just broken her heart, he’d broken her, too, and he’d done it deliberately.
