Embracing the Winds - Trinity Blacio

    All acts of negativity

Will now return threefold to thee

All evil you try to send my way

May fall Upon your own self.

All actions, thoughts, and words of hate

    Become your own decided fate

By the winds high that are wise

By oceans which are wide and deep blue as the skies

By day and night, and powers of three

This is my will, so mote it be.

The magic words spilled out of Luna’s mouth flowing around her tiny apartment and outwards. Her spell Luna had created just for the purpose of protecting her home and shop. It would create a protective shield around the places she called home. It was always one thing Luna had excelled in was spells and her mother had encouraged her early on to do as much as she could, knowing that one day she would need these guards.

She gazed up at the clock and cussed. Time had flown by. They would come for her tonight, as they had for the past six years. Every full moon, the members of the B.M.C. tried and failed to abduct her.

For some reason, these cult members believed that Luna’s blood was the only thing they needed to perform their black magic ritual, to make them immortal, which was the most ridiculous thing she had ever heard of.

It’s stupid! she shouted once more checking the windows and such. The Black Moon Convent followers couldn’t enter or harm her anyway at least she hoped. Her magic was just too strong to confront her on her own turf, but that didn’t stop them from trying or to bring in reinforcements every full moon.

Alone in the world, that she knew of, Luna stared at her mother’s picture on the mantle and the lone birthday cupcake. The candle flickered from the gentle wind which came from the open window.

Well mom, I’m twenty-five now and you’ve been gone for seven years. A lump formed in her throat as she stepped up to the mantle and blew out the candle making a wish. Every year Luna made the same wish. Will that someone special come this year mom? I’m so tired of fighting and being alone. Maybe if I had someone in my life it wouldn’t be so lonely. A single tear rolled down her check, and she brushed it away.

She had no family, which she knew of, one of the reasons she had sought out New Orleans. The last known place she had hoped distant relatives would be. Luna knew nothing of her father’s heritage, but she did know her mother’s family originated from this city.

Somehow though the High Priest, of the B.M.C. had also known she was living there. Ever since a small child, her mother had taught her to keep hidden, but what had that gained her? Nothing! They’d still found them every time they moved. Well, no more. Luna didn’t care if her blood carried enough power to wield many harmful spells. She was tired of hiding and she wanted a family. In her life there were no promises kept, except the monthly visit of her enemies. After a few years of practice-work on her gifts Luna was now ready for them, she would not hold back this time.

Luna settled in a city where magic flowed in the air. However, so did her enemies. New Orleans, where evil and magic roamed freely, she would make her stand. She moved to the French doors which opened as she approached and stared out at the full moon wishing her parents could celebrate the holiday of Spring Equinox with her. This year it was on March 20 and her birthday. It had been her mother’s favorite time of the year.

Her mother, Tessa, had been gone for seven long years now. Sacrificing her life, so her daughter would live. Tessa had allowed the BMC to trap her taking her blood. But little did they know, her blood hadn’t been power enough for their evil. Only Luna’s blood carried the magic they needed. The combination of her father and mother’s gifts was a rare thing, but Luna had both of their talents.

At one time her mom, had been one of the most powerful witches, and her father a wizard. Turning eighteen, her mother had performed a private ceremony transforming most of her magic to Luna as her father’s came to her naturally upon her eighteenth birthday.

Knowing they would come for her again that year when her powers would be at their weakest point to attack. Luna had been sent away to the next town, seeking the materials her mother and she would need for the upcoming celebration. She would have given her last breath, to save her mom, from the fate she suffered at the hands of their enemy, but she had been too late.

Luna shook her head, to rid it of painful images that filled it. Her long, black, beaded hair rattled in the quiet apartment. Tears rolled down her face. She glanced across the darkened street, watching the hooded figures emerge from the shadows and head for her home. It was time.

Why can’t you just leave me alone? she yelled furious they wouldn’t leave her alone. Her magic swirled around the room and her. The balcony doors banging against the wall on the side of her townhouse. Luna stepped out into the warm night air, the smell of Cajun cooking, salt water, and flowers greeted her.

Every year she warned them to no avail, but Luna would continue to warn them hoping that one day they would listen. Do you really believe I’ll let you take me? This year, I won’t hesitate to fight! Come on fools. Give me all that you have. Luna’s hands tingled with her magic which simmered just beneath the surface of her skin.

Never had she been as furious as tonight. Seven years of her life wasted on the run, and always hidden. She was done. If they wanted her, they’d have to fight her, on her turf.

The members of the B.M.C. surrounded her home and stared up at her. Luna waited her ceremonial gown clung to her body.  On this day, she only wore the gown her mother had worn. Colored to match her skin, black, thin and transparent to allow the wind to caress her body, and sentimental one of the only things she had left of her mothers.

The earth’s power energy poured into her as it lent her the magic she needed. The gift so strong it radiated around her with an almost glow. She swore her body was humming like that of a fridge running.

Something shinny caught her attention across the alley to the building next door. A giant frame of a man stood on his balcony. He stared at the ground below and then at her, but she didn’t have time or care if he witnessed what she was about to do.

Go inside now before you are hurt handsome man, she yelled taking another quick peek at the amazing looking man before throwing a small sliver of her magic at one of the followers below, while also tossing the man back into his apartment out of harm’s way. This is my battle, and I won’t have anyone hurt. Her voice rang strong, and her braids moved with the flow of her movements, while she prepared for another attack.

    Chapter Two

Aeolus frowned as he brushed off his ass when he jumped up. Never had any human been able to use magic on him. Yet, here was this small woman who not only ordered him inside but had also placed him inside. He had seen the sadness in her eyes as her eyes had traveled down his body. Yes, the woman and he had a connection, but did he really want to mess with a human and all the emotions.

He moved back to the balcony wind shrieked and blew around him. He still had no idea why he was on Earth. Sure, he played here once in a while, but why did his dad stick him with helping
