    Masked Illusion - Trinity Blacio

    Chapter One

The early morning streets were quiet for a change, as Theresa slowly moved down Julia Street. Julia was sore, bruised and she honestly believed she might have a few broken bones, but she was bound to help these people.

Her son was safe no thanks to the incompetent Sgt. Hollister. How he got to be a Sargent I’ll never know, she grumbled to herself, once more scanning her surroundings again. Theresa had made one mistake and wouldn’t do it again.

She reached up touching the knife wound on her cheek. Twenty-six stiches and she knew it would leave a wonderful scar, along with the other two she caried on her back. Working as an undercover cop and having your cover blown was worse than she had thought. Not only had she endangered her son, but others. After she put this ring of assholes down and a nice long vacation on the beach with her son Theresa would have to rethink her line of work.

A trashcan shook and a cat jumped out of it scaring the crap out of her as she stopped, checking everything around her once more, while slowing her heart down as she checked her weapons again. Tonight, or this morning she was supposed to meet up with some help sent by her old friend, Todd.

If the men, he sent here were anything like him and those that took out the place where she and her son had been held then she’d be grateful. She closed her eyes taking a deep breath, stopping the tears that wanted to come. She shouldn’t have left him, but even at the age of seven her little man knew that she was needed here, to save the other children.

Because two of Todd’s men equaled about ten of her fellow cops she had some reassurance that this wouldn’t go South. Of course, they also didn’t give a shit about killing whoever got in their way too.

For three days, Theresa had followed the group of women and children heading to New Orleans while attending her wounds as best as possible in that short time... There had been so many opening where she could have intervened, to rescue all that she could, but once more the assholes at the top of the sting refused telling her to stay put. Wanting to wait till they found the home base there in New Orleans. Theresa had no idea if this was their home base, to her it was to small for that and her gut was screaming it was someplace else.

You should really pay more attention your surrounding Mon Cheri, a heavy French accent said in her ear.

One, I’m not your Mon Cheri and two, you should check your private jewels before speaking, Theresa countered, her knife right now below this cock.

The man laughed stepping back and bowing to her, while the other one stayed quiet in the shadows, watching.

So how is Tim? she asked, cautious, not trusting anyone.

The man in the shadows step forward handing her a small phone. Tim? He’s on the phone and would like a word with you.

She took the phone hearing Todd laughing. "Please don’t hurt
