A Woman's Worth 5 - Jamell Crouthers
Introduction
This is a story that deals with domestic violence. It will be told from the perspective of a therapist but also the patient’s she’s helping in healing through their trauma. It’s a different perspective of how stories are told and the goal is to really make these stories impactful and emotional.
These are situations that happen more often than they should. Please take the time to have an open mind to how these stories are told and know that I’m trying to bring more discussion to solving the issue of domestic violence in America and around the world.
Thank you for taking the time to read this book and I hope I did justice for all women who have experienced domestic violence in their lives.

Life As A Therapist
Being a therapist is fulfilling and a career I didn’t expect to do,
My calling was to heal people, especially when you learn of my life story.
For now, my name is Sylvia and this story will consist of various things,
I’ll be sharing a lot of stories including mine and it will be an emotional rollercoaster.
I’ll be delving into my life as a therapist for domestic violence victims,
Along with helping and healing people who have been through some traumatic experiences in their life.
Nothing that I do is easy and there are a lot of layers to it,
It consists of a lot of listening, understanding and definitely not judging.
This story will shine light on social issues that plague women in today’s society,
I will be sharing stories of people who have dealt with domestic violence.
I’ve spent a significant amount of time with the people I will discuss,
They’ve blessed and allowed me to share their stories and for good reason.
My goal is to tell the stories of so many domestic violence situations that happen,
Every story has it’s good and bad but these stories need to be told.
It’s heartbreaking a lot of days to have the career that I do,
But I’ll share my struggles of this profession later on in the story.
This is about the patients I’ve treated in the past year,
With the career I have, it’s a lot of memory, notes, and recordings.
Going over notes, listening to recordings, critiquing myself,
Trying to get better in what I do, what I’ve learned over the years and understanding the human mind.
What happens in relationships that lead to domestic violence,
Why does it happen in life and what makes people stay?
Is it how people grow up and the environments they’re in?
Is it self-esteem that plays a role in staying in relationships?
Let’s think about the people who inflict pain on others,
Why do they do it? Do they have insecurities? Have they been abused in their lives?
There are so many questions to the unfortunate circumstances of domestic violence and assault,
These stories will surely not be easy to tell and it will be from my point of view as a therapist.
We all go through our share of things in our lives,
Domestic violence has been an ongoing issue that affects so many women in today’s world.
These are the stories of a few women and what they’ve experienced,
It’s time to buckle up because this is going to be a crazy ride…
Farrah
When Farrah came into my office for a consultation,
She was a teen who just lost her mother to domestic violence.
Her mother was killed by her father and she is an only child,
Now she’s an orphan, she looked lost and far gone from the world.
Her aunt brought her in through word of mouth,
As one of her aunt’s friends was treated
