About this ebook
We have summarized this essential this book by the author.
SCIENTIFIC COMMUNITY: STRUCTURES AND PROCESSES
Goal specification
Scientific activity has a functioning and organization similar to that of a society.
EACH DISCIPLINE IS DIVIDED INTO DIFFERENT SPECIALTIES. For example, within linguistic studies there are different areas of research: generative grammar, discourse analysis, socio-linguistics, ethnolinguistics, etc.
EACH SPECIALTY IS DISTINGUISHED BY A SET OF PROBLEMS TO WHICH YOU WILL HAVE TO FIND A SOLUTION. Also, among the different areas, there will be some that will be socially considered more important than another. That is, we can speak of hierarchical levels between specialties. Although each subclass of the same discipline acquires autonomy with respect to the others, there is a close relationship between them.

Although each subclass of the same discipline acquires autonomy with respect to the others, there is a close relationship between them.
The hierarchy of the sciences
The prestige of scientific disciplines is not explicitly stated, that is, no scientist is going to say that the specialty in which he works is the best. However, it is a fact that there are branches of science that are considered more prestigious by the whole of society.
Criteria for awarding prestige
Within the group of specialties of a discipline and even between different disciplines, the group that contributes more information tending to contribute to the advancement of research is considered prestigious. The exchange of this type of data between disciplines is very common.
The objectives proposed at first by a discipline will be those that it must follow throughout all its research. The deviation or abandonment of the central goals of a discipline by each specialty is considered little prestigious within science.
Likewise, conflicts within science can be caused by the lack of unification of criteria to decide which are the main points that each discipline must resolve. That is, your main goals.
Goal conflict
Within the specialties that deviate from their goals, we can distinguish between
