About this ebook

During their third year of Wizard School, Leesha Fourthchild casts a spell. Actually, she casts several spells, but this one is particularly haunting. Leesha loses her boyfriend Shmedley Thrumbledack and gains him back. Shmedley plays a trick on the couple who were posing as his Parents. And the Tensome learns more about the movement of the Springboks, who Arlanda Florida the Principal is certain are up to no good. A bully becomes friends with Shmedley. Shmedley can be friends with almost anyone, so this is not that surprising. And Amanda Sunflower Triangulum also gains a friend. Read on to find out more of what happens with the Tensome during their third year at Wizard School. Rating G; Reading Level Easy 5th Grade. Female teenage wizard Leesha Fourthchild is very good at casting spells. But is she too good? Leesha casts a spell which doesn't just make her disappear. This spell make her cease to exist. This is good because now she won't have to worry about turning into a velociraptor ever again. She won't have to worry about turning into a dangerous dinosaur who might hurt somebody. As long as she was with her boyfriend Shmedley Thrumbledack, she didn't have to worry about that because he can turn her back into a human. Speaking of Shmedley, now that Leesha is no more, she'll never get to hold hands with him again. She'll never get to kiss him again. And she terribly misses him. How will Leesha be able to exist again? Who can help her? Leesha finds that there is one advantage to not existing. It makes it easier to spy on the underground world and fid out what they're up to. Shmedley is a Spring. A Spring is the opposite of an Offspring. If you're a Spring you never had parents. This is different from an Orphan, for they once had parents. A Spring is also something that bounces. The Spring is a certain time of year. It opens the door to Summer, to better things. A Spring is a flow of water into a pool. A Spring is a magical being who has all these magical attributes. How can Shmedley use these forms of magic to help him? It's good that he has some magic, because he doesn't have a wand. And even though Wizard Math is good for solving problems, it's not much help when you're being picked on by bullies.

The Wizard Without a Wand - Book 5 - Dale Stubbart

    Hocus Pocus!

Some spells are easy to cast. Others are much harder.

One of my favorite spells is

    Hocus Pocus!

    Make us a jokus!

This spell doesn’t really have any power. But the person whom the spell is directed at usually feels compelled to tell a joke anyway. It’s quite good fun and can liven things up when they are get boring, like when you are sitting at the dinner table with your Parents and nobody knows what to say.

Hocus Pocus in and of itself is not magical. It just lets others know that you are casting a spell. It’s the polite thing to do. It can also be a way of getting someone’s attention.

There are many ways to let others know that you are casting a spell. Number one is to brandish your Wand. Ariel Lightwand the Left-Handed, the Teacher of How to be a Wizard in a Kajillion Steps, does this in a way which is sure to catch your eye.

Some of the students still pick up their Wands rather limply. Ariel has let them get by with that for the last two years. I don’t think that she’ll be so lenient this year.

Number two is to say an introductory phrase such as Hocus Pocus, Alakazam, Behold, or Let it be. Shmedley Thrumbledack is a Spring and has adopted Boing Boing as his introductory magic phrase.

Number three is to show that you are magical. Sidney Rather Nottingham does this by directing his hair to stand on end.

I myself like to let my introductory magic phrase reverberate three or four times.

For simple spells, you can use any of these methods. However, the Teachers and the Principal at Wizard School don’t have to use any of those methods. There is something in the way they suddenly hold themselves or in how they look at you, which lets you know that they are about to cast a spell.

For difficult spells, you need to use all three ways of introducing a spell. The Teachers and the Principal only need to use one of these because they are much more powerful Wizards than us students.

When the Springbok Ariel, the alternate Ariel from the City Below pointed her Wand at us, I knew that she was intending to cast a difficult spell at us. I couldn’t let her harm the Tensome. That’s when I lost my cool and turned into a Velociraptor.

Luckily, Shmedley used my necklace and the gleam in his eyes to turn me back into myself right before we ascended from the City Below into the revolving door. Then we all hurried back to Wizard School.

I’m not sure how Shmedley will be able to cast spells this year. He still doesn’t have a Wand.

During his first year at Wizard School, Ariel and the other Teachers let him get by with not being affected by spells. He was able to get by with the help of the invisible fireman’s glove which he found in Lost and Found. That glove simply quashed any spells which were cast at him.

    Shmedley could
