About this ebook

In this part of the Series, The Wizard Without a Wand, we follow the story of a Wand as it searches for its Wizard. For every Wand has a particular Wizard, just as every Wizard has a particular Wand. Indeed, when a Wizard uses a Wand, they become indistinguishable. Just how did this Wand come to be? How did it end up in the Underground City? How does its story interweave with that of Shmedley Thrumbledack who is the Wizard Without a Wand.Rating G; Reading Level Easy 5th Grade; Longest Word: Indistinguishable. This Wand's name is Accoustical Light. I don't know if every Wand has a name. But why not, if they're as important as Wizards? Not just any Wand will work for Shmedley Thrumbledack. For he's not just a Wizard, he's a magical being. And only a magical being can make a Wand for a magical being? So, who would have made it? Accoustical Light's story starts 400 years ago with Professor Malkius Wontlemoot, the last Professor of Wandmaking. After Malkius stopped teaching to wander the countryside, Wandmaking was no longer taught in Wizard Schools. This was much to the relief of several students. Instead, Wands were made by guilds. And only apprentices were taught how to make Wands. Accoustical Light and Shmedley Thrumbledack come close to meeting each other, but in the end, it's only through a strange twist of events, that they wind up together.

    The Last Professor of Wandmaking

Once there were Teachers of Wandmaking. Wandmaking is a very elaborate art and not many students at Wizard School chose to apply themselves to learn that art.

The students seemed to prefer Wizard Math and Formulaica. Fewer and fewer students graduated with a Wandmaking Star in their graduation caps.

Old Professor Malkius Wontlemoot was the last Professor of Wandmaking. He taught his last class to two Longs as students in the fourth year are called, after the Long Dragons which they must ride. Those were the last two students who graduated with Wandmaking Stars in their caps.

One of those students was Ephelbridge Lineus Sparklessence. After Ephelbridge graduated, he thought to himself, I’m very good at making Wands. If I sold them, I might be very good at making money.

When he told others about this, some thought that he had spent a few too many hours studying Formulaica. Ephelbridge didn’t listen to them. Instead he started the Wandmaking Guild to make Wands and to sell them to future Wizards.

Before Ephelbridge started the Guild, you had to know somebody who had graduated in Wandmaking, if you wanted a Wand made for you. They would make the Wand for you without charging you for it.

After Ephelbridge started the Wandmaking Guild anybody could purchase a Wand, if they could afford it. Well, if they could afford it; and if a Wand would accept them as its Wizard.

After Mr Sparklessence and the other student graduated, there were no more classes in Wandmaking. This was because there were no more students who wished to learn that art.

With no students to teach, Malkius had to retire. He stayed at Wizard School for a couple of years. He
