The World Through Her Eyes - Sasha Williams
I Am Who I Am
I am who I am and who I’m destined to be
So much hurt and pain that pain wouldn’t let me be
I Learned life wasn’t a game
I was struggling so much my mind wasn’t the same
As a kid life was all about fun
But now that I’m an adult I see that life has just begun
Bad decisions sent my life on the run
Life took a turn for the worst and then at times it got better
Life had me so chilled I had to wear a sweater
Self therapy I wrote myself letters
I talked to people and we either agreed or disagreed
And there was no need to argue because it escalates to the next degree
But if we keep the mindset to learn we can be set free
Instead we do the same things that caused us not to succeed
My mind was in constant battle I was always on my knees
I had to learn that prayer was
the key
Struggling with a relationship this man was no cup of tea
Macho man gun to my face
He had to show me that he was first place
I thought that kids could fill his heart’s lonely space
He didn’t want me to leave my
vision wasn’t clear
Love was all I could see because I thought he wanted us to be
But God opened my eyes and I was able to see
He had a vision for me this battle he wanted me to flee
His plans for me I didn’t foresee
But strong is what he inscribed inside of me
I am who I am and who I’m destined to be
God saw what that man didn’t see in me
Free from negativity free from deceit
Taught as a child to stand on my own two feet
And so I am who I am and who I’m destined to be
I am Sasha I am Me
Accept Me As I Am
For I am not a mistake
I was meant to be
I was made so fearfully and wonderfully
And though my purpose to some is unclear
there is a calling in me
So do not be blinded by what the eye may see
Accept me as I am
my whole being; In its entity
I am not like the women who
we call a celebrity
For my expensive clothes
do not define my identity
Neither does my weakness determine
