symbol.jpgBlessing
Filled with so many obstacles
As I journey this thing called life
Life lasting ever so long
A song my heart cries out
Of being blessed for 28 years
And still kicking in life
Not knowing the meaning
But my being exists
From my Creator, not none greater
As I praise His name on high
Like these mountains I travel
As they try and indulge me in its madness
This thing called life
I slowly close my eyes as I yell out to this mountain for guidance
And she opens her mouth to encourage me, she speaks
A firm stance I stand, yet I too crumble
As my being is covered over this road
But I slowly collect the pieces and mold it with determination
Because I’m determined to be as you my child
And I yell back to this mountain:
Why I’m just an African-American woman
With talent unheard
A little bit of knowledge behind my word
Which I share with you and a few
Making it is for dreamers
And my dream replays constantly
With the question of why?
Why I haven’t given up yet?
Given up! Says the mountain
You were blessed for a reason and believing will see you through
In confidence be the meaning equals you
As I smiled at the mountain and moved along in these obstacles called life
But still confused as I traveled this road
Still hanging in there, looking for more answers of why?
Why isn’t my life complete?
Why must I be the seeker and not be found?
Why are my days hazed in brown?
As I headed down into a stream
And in the mist of its water was a reflexion of me
As I touched the water, I questioned why?
Why must I be cured? And not have a better life?
The water rippled and my reflexion shined
And said a girl, are you losing your mind?
Why take a look at yourself
You’re an achiever
As I licked my lips and started to believe her as she said:
Your life is precious, so continue to live
And out of this preciousness, blessed with three beautiful kids
And many would give their soul to have and be where you stand
Focus on determination, and not finding a man
As I placed my hand in the water and touched my face, I whispered thank you
And continued this journey called life
But still searching not fully convinced
Even the time the mountain and stream had spent
But more, more is what I was looking for
For a tree, as its branches embraced me
Covering my mouth, not allowing me to speak
But in a stern voice, she shouted at me:
Why can’t you see?
Why is it hard to believe?
Life is what you make
We all make mistakes and
We fall down but get back up
We all have been deceived
We all have had bad luck
That’s no excuse for thinking less or giving up
As long as you have faith and you trust
Think things out before pressing action
We learn before we can live
The true satisfaction
Is self-esteem and self-respect
Personality this is reality
And not a dream
Being determined is the goal
Determination is the key
As I hugged that tree and felt its truth
A tear fell from my eye, and watered its root
As I dropped to my knees, and raised my hands to the skies
And thanked the Lord for the blessing of my life
symbol.jpgA Friend Ship
Some say that a friendship ship will never sink
But what do you think when that big wave hits that ship?
Laying her on her side where she never expected to be hit!
Or how she flips the script, when confronted by the sharks and
the other entire beast that lie deep in that ocean
For she thought that the quietness of her
