My name is Prince Blee Toe Sr. I was born in Liberia, Monrovia, on June, 30, 1982. I was raised by my grandmother, and I am the firstborn on my mother’s side. I was seven years old when my grandmother and I migrated to her native country, which was Ivory Coast. Ivory Coast is a French-speaking country. I lived in Ivory Coast all my youth life, and at the age of sixteen, I move to Ghana for the resettlement. The resettlement is a refugee program that allowed those refugees who have war in the country to reside in the United States permanently and make it their home. In February 6, 1998, we left Ghana to come to America. My family and I resided in Canton, Ohio. In that same year, I started school, but it was in the middle of the school year, so I had to repeat my freshman year at McKinley High School. In 2002, I graduated from high school. In the early of summer of 2002, I move to Sacramento, California, for college. My brother and I lived together as roommates and went to the same college, which is American River College. I majored in journalism because of my writing gift, but later on, I changed my mind and decided to major in criminal justice but was still writing during my spare time. Due to the change of careers, it took me longer to graduate than I expected to. I graduated in 2011 at American River College with an AA in liberal arts. Now I go to Sacramento City College and am working toward my AA in criminal justice. I am a father of three children: two girls and a boy. I have a lovely and godly woman by my side, who keeps me humble and always give me her full support. I am a Christian and don’t like politics at all. I am also a martial artist, bodybuilder, and soccer player. I like to help others reach their dreams and to be around wise, intellectual, humble people.

Years of Making
Easy to watch them grow, but hard to let them go.
Watch them play; it’s like having a new faith.
Nothing that they do is wrong
This is why I plan to live long
Thoughts of mind cannot believe it
I am their creator
Round figures on their faces just like mine
Smiles that any father will kill for
Easy to watch them grow, but hard to let them go
Watching them, it’s like watching the multiple latitudes of the ocean waves
Full of surprises, full of wonders, and asking what next
This is why I cannot stop being the best
I’m the tree and they are my fruits
Planted them with care
Watch them grow every year, every month, every week, every day,
Every hour, every minute, and every second.
No questions asked and feel good about my answers
It is the greatest joy that I needed for so long
Easy to watch them grow, but hard to let them go.
Every day I appreciate the little things in life

African Beauty
No other beauty like her
No comparison and there is no competition
A glance at her makes me a victim of my crime
I’m from the north; she’s from the south
When we meet, all seems to be at ease while the bridges are colliding
A rare beauty that I have seen for a long time in the mist of Africa
No other beauty like hers exists and only heaven knows why
A second glance at you makes these overwhelming feelings capture my soul
My heart gets heavy when I see her
Her beauty blinds any judgment that comes in her path
Through those sleepless nights, I am thinking of her and,
I still cannot get over such a beauty that’s made me question our father for the unfairness
Far away, you seem to forget your own name, a beauty that has no doubt that she is beautiful
Close up, you seem to hate yourself because her beauty is very, unique
Blowing in your face like those cold winds of November
Weakening your strength as if she is right in front of you
A third glance at her makes you wonder, does she really exist
How deep is her love? Why am I turning so blue, and why these gut pains?
A rare beauty that makes you want to fall in love again
Define love in every word you can and realizing the importance of a woman
A rare beauty that makes you want to fall in love again
Define love in every word you can a rare beauty that makes you want to fall in love again
Define love in every word you can so your mind can stop wondering
She is the final touch of God’s work
A glance at her, the whole city falls
A second glance at you makes these overwhelming feelings capture my soul
A third glance at her makes you wonder does she really exist
No other beauty like her
No comparison and there is no competition
A glance at her makes me a victim of my crime
I’m from the north; she’s from the south
When we meet, all seems to be at ease while the bridges are colliding
A rare beauty that I have seen for a long time in the mist of Africa
No other beauty like her exists and only heaven knows why

A Wake Up Call
My youngest son wonders why life is full of surprises
I look at him with unpolished smile and my adrenaline starts pumping
Couldn’t really give him a good definition neither an answer
I have lived longer to not even know why it is so either
Perhaps in my mind, I have something to match his question
Rise up young man! Rise up son and shine! Rise up son and shine!
The look on his face seems to be confused and agitated
He wonders if he has done something
He wonders if I really meant what I said, still cannot believe what he is hearing
Perhaps confused from the action of my words
Movements of his eyes have shifted, mouth shut, and followed by a thick breath
Anger is taking over his calm, and heart rates start rising as fast as normal
His voice starts to tremble; his pride is beginning to walk past his humbleness,
And his intelligence is nowhere to be found to save him
Listening to his creator with his eyes wide open
Just like tomorrow never promises a damn thing
Just like those young men who fail to overcome the lessons given from their parents
Just like the change of weather, there is nothing that you can do wrong, son
Just like fire and water, they both need each other no matter what
Just like a marriage, you have to fight for what you believe in, son
Sometimes life is good and sometimes it is bad
Why is that? I don’t know, but I can give advice that will lead you down the right path
There is no today or tomorrow
It’s what you put in and it’s what you get back, son
It’s just the way you treat life and that’s how life treats you
Wake up son! Smell the brightness; breathe the fresh air into your lungs,
Wake up son! Smell the opportunity knocking at your door and you are ready for it
Don’t you see? Life is just a game
Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose, but can you get back up?
And that’s the question that a lot of people have been asking
Don’t let life tease you! Don’t let life get the best of you son!
Don’t let life change who you are or put you where you don’t want to be
Don’t let life win because if you do, you will forever be on the wrong path
Wake up son! Smell the brightness; breathe the fresh air into your lungs,
Wake up son! Smell the opportunity knocking at your door and you are for it
Don’t you see? Life is just a game
Be the man you want to be!
Be the doctor you want to be!
Be the young man who I know!
Who am
