To my mother first, I want to say throughout all of our controversies I love you. I know if you were alive I would have never been able to formulate this book. Simply because I know you weren’t able to understand my pain. I want to thank you for raising a determined and passionate young lady and thanks for always believing in me. No matter the circumstances you always said I would be alright. Moma us as a family will be alright. We are finally all sticking together and loving one another. I love you Moma & I hope I have made you proud. Even though I know you’d want to kill be this book.

L ife is what you make of it, right? I can recall back to when I was a child, and one of my old-timers gave me a conception of life. My elder described a plant sprouting and weeds growing all around the plant, suffocating the life out of it! The plant wouldn’t grow properly until the weeds were pulled out from the roots. So in life, trials and tribulations can resemble weeds and how they can suffocate all prosperity out of you, which slowly suffocates the life out of you. One of the key essentials is not to let your weeds get so tall that you can no longer breathe.

The purpose of this book is to view my life and also to reminisce on all the fear and life struggles I have withstood. From the outside looking in, it appears as though life has really been unfair to me. But when you look through my lens, you will see life has been wonderful to me.

Although through every weed that I live was meant to suffocate the life out of me, I have pulled all the discomfort from the roots. It wasn’t a loose root to pull either! So I started to yank it out! Countless emotional searches and glancing at myself and my heart, deciding what was beneficial for me and what was logical. In life, it’s a process; you never reach the magnitude of perfection. In your mind, if you ever feel you have nothing to work on or to make you better, most likely you’re the problem in the situation.

I teach my children, even if a person is untrue, to peacefully find a way to see how you can prevent a situation or bring comfort to a situation. My son was at practice, and I felt like one of the other parents addressed him in a not-so-pleasing way. My first thought was to put her in her place. Who is she to be talking to my child like that? Then I listened to God, and he said, Everything is not what it appears. So I didn’t address her. I left it alone.

A couple of weeks later, my son was involved in a situation where he really didn’t do anything wrong, but the laziness of the school board had my son’s character being judged. Then this same lady from the practice stepped up to his defense and bent over backward and showed a blessing to defend his character. I am explaining the situation cause I promise you, if the devil is starting confusion between you and someone, most likely the devil sees something in your future that can make you stop a blessing.

At this point, I overcome more fear and judgment.

My mother was a wonderful mother. She had her ways, but overall, she raised me to overcome any circumstance I was in. One of my biggest fears that held me off from telling my story was my fear of how the world would judge my mother. This fear has held me off from writing, but God has put a determination in me to tell this story and not worry about the world. Well, is this just another
