About the Author
Step Into My World
Introduction
After going to Howard University, I continued to place my dreams, my experiences, and my realities into poems. I lost several dear friends and family members in the last few years and now they are with the Lord. They continue to be my inspiration, R.I.P Uncle Tony. I have come across realities in my life that scared me to my core. I had to take the biggest step of my life and take a step back to realize what I still needed to do to fulfill my dreams. I have shed tears, worked through confusion, frustration, and eliminated baggage I never had the chance to work through in such detail before.
A weight has been lifted off my shoulders and now I see life clearer than before. I have realized how precious a few hours up to one day could be. How I could lose a family member in a matter of hours. Life is so precious and so much can be taken for granted when you don’t take the time to see things clearly. I had to make the toughest and the best decision of my life when I decided to leave what was familiar and go to Howard University. A place where I felt I could belong. A place that made me feel free and passionate about life. A place that made me believe in me and my future choices. A place I knew where being myself would be the best thing I could ever do.
Howard University expanded and explored my choices for the better. Howard helped me to realize my responsibilities in life, my dreams, my goals, my wants and needs, my desires, my true love for life, having faith and hope for my future. What an amazing feeling of breathing new life, freedom, and independence into my art.
Over the last 20 years of my
