A River of Dreams: A Journey of Life Through Poetry

I was born in a beautiful rural area of South Australia. My younger years were spent playing sport and visiting nearby beaches to surf and swim. Living in this idealistic countryside gave me much inspiration to write my poetry. After moving to Adelaide in the early nineties, my writing slowed. When I began practicing tai chi and attending meditation classes, things for me changed again. Through these mindful practices, my passion to write was once again ignited. Over the last sixty years, I have seen and experienced a lot of life. Sometimes, almost magical, and other times, life gave me lessons of reality to learn from.

This collection of poetry reflects the highs and lows of my life, with the eternal spark of optimism shining through its words. I trust you, the reader, will enjoy this work as much as I have bringing it to life. It has given me so much joy to finally get it published. I sincerely trust this book will encourage other writers to bring their stories to life. For our life is one big story, with belief we will manifest and create all our dreams.

As a child, I watched man land on the moon. This ignited my dream, a dream that one-day man will travel to the stars and beyond. And with this many great advancements will come for mankind. I have been writing poetry for over 30 years and many poems are written from personal heartaches and experiences. With more of the recent works, I have focused on the beauty of nature and our planet. I enjoy walking, practicing Tai Chi and meditate most days. This helps me to find a peaceful space for writing. After writing A River of Dreams in 2017, I sat down and wrote this as a follow-on of the journey. I hope that you enjoy reading this collection of poems and trust in some small way they will brighten your life. As a poet, I paint you pictures with words. Come away

And set me free

Give up your doubts,

Just let things be.

What’s the point of arguing,

If you just don’t understand.

Just realise you’re wrong this time,

And become a better man.

Life is our short journey,

So short for many who,

Without the wars we’re fighting,

They’d be people that you knew.

No one wins in a war,

If you’re just bidding for a fight,

You’re only kidding yourself,

If you believe that you are right.

Become a better person,

Please, just walk away!

The world will thank you many times,

For a better world today.

A New Life

The world unfolds before you,

It’s such an amazing place.

May each step you take be easy,

And your life rolls at an easy pace.

Life will give you dreams to
