About this ebook

Kesh

Kesh are to be left long and flowing,
leave them alone to do the growing.
Wash and comb the knots away,
keep kesh tied up when you play.

Kesh must be kept tied with a dastar,
so you stand out as a Sikh from a far.
Looking after your kesh is your duty,
you know very well theyll enhance your beauty.

Sikhs leave their childs kesh uncut and long,
then as they grow up they know where they belong.
For Sikh identity kesh are a must,
then you know in the gurus you can trust.

    Wedding Day

The groom waits patiently for the bride,

she’s late cos she’s wondering if it’s time for her to hide.

Eventually, she walks down the aisle,

wearing a lovely dress and a big smile.

There waiting at the altar is the groom,

she’s thinking, Don’t worry, I’ll soon give you the broom.

We’re gathered here for your big day,

don’t let these memories fade away.

You promise to be faithful and take care of one another,

and that means not raising an eye for any other.

Life’s journey has its ups and downs,

but you both see them through without the frowns.

The time has come for you to begin the joy of wedded bliss,

start as you mean to go on, at the altar, with a kiss.

Now that you’re husband and wife,

walk down the aisle without any strife.

So now you’ve got the title of mister and missus,

start to enjoy all the lovely hugs and kisses.

    Just remember, in a while,

there’s going to be more happiness due to a very small smile.

    Royal Baby

    A royal baby born,

for a lot of you to scorn.

    So there’s a new heir,

    do we really care?

    Of course, we do,

Mummy and Daddy are looking forward to the poo.

    So isn’t it great news?

    as everyone has different views.

    A great-grandchild for the Queen,

so raise a glass and don’t be so mean.

For the royal family, the future is secure,

    a baby boy so pure.

Best wishes and cheers to William and Kate,

looking forward to the next big date.

    Mother

For forty weeks, you carried me,

now it’s time for you to set me free.

You’ll bring me up with kindness and love,

we’ll be together like a hand in a glove.

You’ll hold my hand when I start to walk,

and be the first to hear when I start to talk.

You’ll teach me the rights and wrongs,

and take care of all my nasty pongs.

You’ll be there for my first day at primary school,

so in life I don’t end up a fool.

You will scold me if I do wrong,

cos you know, in life, it’ll make me strong.

You’ll guide me through school and college,

that’s where I’ll gain my worldly knowledge.

You’ll be there for when I start my work,

as you taught me that in life you cannot shirk.

You’ve given me knowledge to stand on my two feet,
