To My Muse - Bob Dunne
Lynne
How sad it is to be so old
That you can’t play the dating game.
Sometimes you find you can’t recall
What she said last, or her first name.
Every time I think of her
I call her Kate instead of Lynne.
It’s not a bad thing – not the worst,
It’s not out loud, it’s just within.
But I have no dementia, no.
I think it’s nerves, yes that is all.
We smile so nicely eyes to eyes
How sweet she is, don’t want to fall.
Yet, there can be no deep relation –
Our age difference is so great.
Still quite good friends we can become –
Perhaps that will be in our fate.
No One’s Fool
Be strong, and don’t be anyone’s fool.
You must be the object of your own rule.
Don’t follow a path set down by others.
Are all to you mere substitute mothers?
Things all will weigh you down, it’s true.
One’s like you who make it are few,
But that doesn’t mean to give it all up.
Before your eyes keep the sign of the cup.
You thought you were destined for a big fall,
That you’d succumb to the devil’s call.
You’ve made it so far, so keep on going.
You’re not to be tossed, you’re in a state of knowing.
Fight the fight, overcome every day,
No matter what the others will say.
You thought you were too sensitive and weak
To strive in this world. Now continue to seek.
Out of Joint
Today has been so bad it can’t be real.
I’m so torn up, don’t know just how to feel.
It seems the closest ones, they disappoint.
I’m angry, and my bones are out of joint.
Are women bound to mess up your good mood?
I thought I had a real fine attitude.
I can’t believe how inside I do rage,
I hardly seem the clever, knowing sage.
Would I be paranoid if I did say
That women know the hidden, secret way
To turn you upside down and set you off,
To dunk you way deep down inside the
