About this ebook

Forbidden Dreams has been a work in progress for the past 19 years. The poems have been written at different stages in Anitas life and mirrors several real life experiences that she has had as a child and young adult growing up. Some of the poems are fictitious in nature and reflects the multiplicity of talent that Anita has unleashed among the camaraderie of well-known poets. Poetry is an avid expression of our soul and a reflection of our deepest thoughts buried in the sub-conscious. Put a pen to paper and let the mind do the talking..

Anita Ramsaran

Anita Ramsaran was born in Trinidad and Tobago and grew up in rural Penal with her extended family. Anita’s passion for poetry started at a very tender age of 10 when she started penning all her thoughts and emotions to paper as a means to riding herself of all the harsh realities of life. Her poetry became her solace and refuge in times when life became a challenge. Anita is a full time employee with the Government of Trinidad and Tobago and is also a part time student pursuing her BSc Degrees in both Psychology and Management Studies. Apart from work and school, Anita is an active volunteer with the Rape Crisis Society (non-governmental organization) in Trinidad and Tobago. Her aim in life is to become a self-published author and a Child Psychologist.

    Teeth For Life

When we were born into this world,

We had no teeth, just gum.

A few months after our gums became sore

And soon after, we grew our teeth one by one.

    With this shiny white teeth,

I drank milk and lots of it too.

My mummy told me that these brand new teeth I got were my milk teeth.

Yes, they were called milk teeth or baby teeth.

    Years passed by,

    I grew up really fast.

    A strange thing happened.

When I was about six or seven,

One of my teeth began to shake really bad.

    Soon after all the pain,

They came out one by one.

I started to cry, but mummy told me why.

She said that they were only temporary teeth, and that they would grow back.

    No sooner than expected,

    They all grew right back.

After I had gotten all my precious teeth back,

I jumped for joy at last. Then mummy told me,

Hey sweetie! You’ve got to take really good care of your brand new teeth.

    She explained that they
