Johnny Marcel O’Gradney

My name is John Marcel O'Gradney. I was born on March 3, 1976 in Chicago, Illinois. I started writing poetry in high school, which led to me becoming a lead singer in a rock n roll band. I've been in various bands throughout the years, having always been the main lyricist. For me, I've always felt that song lyrics were simply poems put to music. I've been a student of life since birth, my school being the earth, imagination my teacher, and life being the lessons learned. The poetry i write is about everything from life, love, religion, philosophy, and drugs. I am now living in St. Petersburg, Florida, where I was raised from the age of eight. I work to pay my bills as a chef, which I have been doing since I was twelve years old. My grand father owned a restaurant and gave me a job as a dishwasher. I worked my way to a cook and have been doing it since.

    Ode to James Douglas Morrison

    Is everybody in

    Is everybody in

    Is everybody in

The poetry is about to begin

    Listen up

Who gives a shit where it was

    This dream will never stop

    Teenage stoned death games

    Testing the limits

    Shattering the barriers

Breaking through to the other side

Living life in the fast lane

    Driving a car with

    Four bald tires and

    A nearly busted engine

    This is where we live

    Trapped in childhood

    In love with rock stars

    Stoned immaculate

    Out here in these perimeters

    We don’t need stars

    We see through closed eyelids

    The dead are newborn awakening

    When words resemble walking sticks

    Words caused all these wounds

    And will heal us

    If we let them

Please don’t chase the clouds, pagodas

    There was a child born

Who could see truth in everything

He sat on a hill with tears streaming down his face

    People passing asked

    Why do you cry boy?

    He replied

    Can’t you see

We’re born to live in cages

Feed of the blood of our loved ones

Travel blindly down life’s path of destruction

I speak to you of truth

    We’re surrounded by lies

Our minds have been washed, poisoned, and hooked

By the subliminal heroine they feed

When the crowd that had gathered

    Began to weep

    His tears suddenly dried up

The truth was they were ready for change

The tears became a river of hope

Dawn of the next day brought a new ray of light

    1.jpg

I am the moon glow by day

    The sunshine at night

    I revolve around the world

    That revolves around me

Nine planets couldn’t stop the collision

    In the interplanetary sea

    Swim

    Swim through galaxies

    Towards eternal dusk

    Where light was born

    In a dream of life

    1.jpg

    I was just writing

    Words becoming time

    Time becoming sentences

    Sentences spilling onto paper

    Leaked ink onto my fingers

    Covering it black

    The ink is
