About this ebook

Collage

is a collection of poems that cater to those who dont usually care to read poetry, those who think poetry is only a bunch of word coupled together on pages in a book read by uncanny people and makes no sense at all. Poetry has taken its second wind and is no longer a compilation of twisted words that leaves the reader with a mental overload and smoke spewing from their ears. Collage is just as the name implies, a genre of poems by American and Ghanaian poets that covers an insurmountable range of topics, from the country life the author growing up as a child in Mississippi to the flavor filled verses and anecdotes of Ghanaian Poets or Poetess'. The Author is sure that this book will not offend with the Poets pen, but be a world wide treat that is very unique; offering inspiration, revelation, and stimulation to it's diverse readers.

Abena Owusu Koranteng

Mandy Fields, Koranteng was born in Natchez, Mississippi, the last child of John Lanus and Loubertha Fields, Lanus. Being the youngest of ten children, she often felt disliked and rejected. Being alienated by her sibling, Mandy sought quiet places where here imagination which had become her lone friend and playmate could recant onto paper her enumerable thoughts in poetic form. God blessed her to travel to Ghana, West Africa in 2008 where she met Isaac Owusu Koranteng, they married and now resides in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Her trip to Ghana greatly changed her outlook on the entire continent and has enable her to accumulate many friends there, as well as inspired her to organize a group of Poets called "The Master Poetz' whose works will be featured in this book. Mandy is a born again Christian who believes in the Holy Trinity and God's written word and our lives should reflect out beliefs.

    Last Night…

the stars blew me a kiss

the wind sang me a love song

the clouds gracefully did a slow dance

the moon blushed at the sight

the trees applauded in utterly bliss

the grass bowed to its fellow

the falling leaves danced in mid air

the small creeping things spread the news

the comets celebrated the grand occasion

    all because…

    I wished upon a star

    basked in the wind

    floated on the clouds

    gazed at the moon

    admired the trees

    observed the grass

    watched the falling leaves

    listen to the creeping things

And was blessed to see a comet

Last night was a GOOD NIGHT

    Mother’s Love

I REMEMBER MAMA IN A HAPPY WAY

A mother’s love is worth more than gold

It takes you further than riches untold

She denies herself so that you can have the best

Takes a morsel of meat, giving you the rest

A mother’s love is sure and never will sway

It’s entwined in her actions and the kind things she would say

Always on the move, working her fingers to the bone

Putting in very long hours, just to take care of her home

A mother’s love wakes her up at the break of dawn

To give God her first fruits morning by morn

Each child’s name she mentions with care

Thanking God for their lives in her daily prayer

A mother’s love flows to all of man kind

A woman of virtue by the Spirit divine

The mantle is passed from mother to child

Hard working and strong, yet gentle and mild

My mother’s love taught me to find beauty in nature

Inspiration for my writings, I really appreciate her!

She encouraged me to keep my eyes toward the sky

Said, that would be her pathway when her turn came to die

Her days were numbered, and now she’s gone

Memories of my mother helps me to carry on

I can still hear her singing her favorite song

PRAISING MY SAVIOR ALL THE DAY LONG

Thanks be to God for my mother’s love

Imputed from the father in heaven above

    No You, No Me

    Why am I so cold?

    My arms cringe to fold

    Amidst thoughts untold

    to weariness I am sold

    Yet I must stand bold

    Have you walked away,

    listening to what people say?

    Who caused you to sway,

    After you swore to stay?

    My heart you did slay

    Once again here I stand

With one instrument from the band

    But through Christ I can

    Without bread or a man

    No audience, no fan

    Didn’t know you would leave

    My heart you deceived

By a slippery tongue with slimy seeds

My case I will not plead

    I will always succeed!!!

    Through Christ I can

As we walk hand in hand

    Two instruments, a full band

No you, just me, please understand

My faith is in Christ and not a man

    God Said

When tests and trials come your way

Cast them down by my words you say

Search the scriptures which is powerful and divine

And exemplify your status as a child of mine

    An expression of Love

In this game of Poetry, diversity is defined

Each distinct individual is able to
