Poetic Reflections for Today’s World
()
About this ebook
Time is nothing more than a series of brief moments strung together by life. For many, those brief moments during their life's timeline are composed of a mixture of emotions--i.e., happiness, sadness, solitude, disbelief, and denial.
Hopefully, this book will bring peace and enjoyment to the reader, allowing you to reflect within your own life, and at times, give you a new and different perspective or awareness. Its reflection of past and current-day stories, in a poetic format, will enlighten your thinking and perhaps become one of your new favorite reads for both entertainment and inspiration.

About the Author
To Raymond Farley Greathouse and Virginia Hume Greathouse
And your endless efforts to show me the true light of life.
To my sister, Cathy, for always being there even when I wasn't.
My nephew, Andy, for allowing me to know fatherhood.
And God, for giving me the words to pen.
Just a thought!
At times when you get down and feel like you are broken and worthless, think about this…the very same God who created the mountains, the oceans, the stars, the sunsets, the rainbows, the moon, the sky and everything else beautiful and good in this universe…stopped, looked around, and felt the world also needed one of you.
911…
In case you have forgotten, allow me to say,
No one woke up to die that day.
As the morning broke with its sky of blue,
Thundering sounds gave a dismal clue.
With buildings burning the people knew,
As the sky was filled with a crimson hue.
With disbelief and screams in play,
Life for many would cease that day.
The clocks would stop and people would cry,
As family, friends, and loved ones die.
With the horrors of evil and terror abound,
Sirens of help were headed inbound.
Brave men and women screaming in wait,
All not sure of their lives or fate.
While tears and fears filled every heart,
Every first responder did their part.
No second-guessing, no signs of fear,
They said a prayer as they grabbed their gear.
But when it was over, there was a strange peace,
And God was there to calm the grief.
And when it was over, it had just begun,
A strong new vigilance that would be won.
We will never forget nor ever run,
Their memory blessed by both Father and Son.
A Change of Seasons
I see the sky and feel the clouds.
The wind is whistling oh so loud.
The day gets darker; the cabin creaks.
I stay steadfast, while a storm does creep.
Mother Nature is throwing a twist,
With a change of seasons in our midst.
Perhaps winter has but one more bout.
I sit quite puzzled with uncertain doubt.
The air is heavy with a fresh, new smell.
But it's about to change; I can foretell.
Remnants of snow still patch the ground,
Fallen leaves dancing aimlessly around.
Just another day with a normal routine,
Waiting for a fresh, new season of green.
Praying for the flowers and the colors they tout,
While hearing the songbirds sing and call out.
A Childhood Night…
Of all the trips I've traveled
There is one I remember dear,
It began with a distant whistle
With train wheels churning clear.
The rails softly clamored
Mysteriously into the night
