Whispers in the Wind - David Rogers

    A LENTO

Old is a soul that can no longer dream

Cold be the sinews that bind one in hate

Bold is the person that champions the small

Sold be the peace of a country irate.

Right be the cause when there’s children involved

Light at the end of the tunnel we see

Tight be the shackles of those who oppress

Night falls on all of us eventually.

    A PRAYER TO HUMANITY

The gifts of our beloved God

    Are seen from every mountainside

To see the leaves of aspen trees

    Twinkling with woodland pride

    The columbines and daffodils

So lovely when they start to bloom

To watch them dance upon the wind

    With honeybees around them loom

A wolf howls on a moonlit night

As bears play on the dark terrain

Wood owls now will keep the watch

Despite the cold and misty rain

I thank you God for nature’s gifts

For it fills my heart with mirth

    There’s such purity in nature

This gift called Mother Earth . . .

    A SADNESS PASSES THROUGH

Eight years I have been without you

And still a sadness passes through

A screaming wind catches my hair

My mind is spinning like a bicycle wheel.

My path is bleak now, without you

Much like a sadness passing through

Loping aimlessly my head hung low

No handkerchief to hold my tears.

O how I wish that life was a sprint

    To end this sadness passing
