A Day Without Sun
As I sit on the back porch, I can see
The sun isn’t going to shine today.
For today is just a lonely day in February.
The snow has gone away for at least today.
The poor trees look so bare and cold
Just standing there alone. The roads
Are all covered with salt from the bad
Weather that we’ve been getting.
Some little birds fly around just looking
For what little food they can scavenge
From the ground to feed themselves.
The lawn is all brown and the grass is all
Dead from the cold winter weather too.
The neighbor’s hedge is busy with all of
The birds trying to find a place with some
Warmth. The squirrels and rabbits are
Foraging for some food as well, as they
Know that we have a long road ahead
Until Spring will finally get here several
Months from now. The gray sky looks
Like it is just waiting for Spring to get
Here so it can help the world with some
Warm weather so it can help the plants
To bloom and flourish once again, while
I just sit here and pray for the sun and
Spring to get here sooner than later.
A Sea of Sanctuary
When I get to the point where I just can’t take
Anymore…I do as I always do and turn to my
Friend… to my sea of sanctuary. There goes
My tightness of chest and taught forehead as I
Ease back and swim in the sea, my sea of
Sanctuary. Her waves release all my stressors
And upset as she leads me on in her continuous
Motion of waves. SomeTymes at the seashore
I just stand and stare at her in all of her power
And magnificence as she goes on from shore to
Shore to shore. She moves with the power of
The moon’s gravity as she ebbs twice a day.
She effervesces as the tides come in and I
Drift along in myself wondering why everyone
Can’t share in the peace and joy of her beauty
She gives so freely of herself. Her salty breath
Floats on as she crosses over the shoreline that
Spans over three quarters of our planet Earth.
The most wondrous sound of all of her sounds
Is as she breaks upon the myriad shores of my
Mind and soul. Her gifts relax me so I can move
On and take on the world one last Tyme… if not
Now, for forever more.
Aimee’s End
Aimee had been missing since Saturday night.
I missed her snuggling with me so I looked
Through the living room to no avail. I looked
Under the couch where she likes to play…No
Aimee. I looked in the dining room but she
Wasn’t there either. I searched the bathroom,
Nope. I looked in my bedroom where she
Where she Loves to hide in a corner of my
Room under the pile of clothes. She would
Spend much of her day sleeping, but still no
Aimee. I was beginning to get worried by
