    SECTION I

    POEMS BY Joseph J. O’Neill

I sailed the ocean blue and green

But nowhere did I find my hearts true queen

I flew the blue skies in a whirl

But nowhere did I find my girl

I traveled all over as was my fate

But nowhere did I find my mate

I went to war at their demand

But still no finger for the golden band

I lived in Asia and Europe too

But sill I couldn’t come up with you

    I traveled everywhere world wide

And still did not find my Bride

Then at home on leave at last

My sister brought you from her past

I was caught and didn’t know

But life took on a brand new glow

I hated all our time apart

You had become my true sweetheart

And then we finally exchanged rings

I thought of the future and many things

We made our vows to love and care

And promised that this life we’d share

I loved you then but didn’t understand

How lucky I had been to win you hand

As the years pass you are my life

My love my joy my caring wife

Two large babies did you bear

In pain and suffering and with loving care

See how beautiful they have grown

Nurtured lovingly in seeds that were sown

Our two flowers had a beautiful start

No matter where we are we will never be apart

I feel a string tug to return to prayer

My life needed change it was going no where

I feel so bad when you come home weary

I wish my love would come thru or I’ll get teary

Remember always my strong and deep love

Now much more peaceful thanks to my Dove

Majestic mountains that touch the sky

The place where all the eagles fly

The lake is broad and clear as glass

Looking down you see the fish pass

The waterfall sings its loud song

It seems to cry come along

The trees line the green shore

    Rooted deep for evermore

The meadow looks so cool and serene

Filled with flowers and carpeted in green

The songs of birds fill the air

    The sound of animals everywhere

The loggers come and take the tree

The bulldozers gouge the earth, the animals flee

The strip miners come the mountains their goal

It is stripped and torn and loses its soul

The lake now filled with industrial waste

The temple is desecrated by man in his haste

Factories and homes on a sterile plain

The beauty no more, never again

So it is man does to himself

Desecrates the temple, ignores its true wealth

Value no longer placed where it is true

Care for one self, only me not you

What value is placed on a true friend

None whatsoever if his mind you can’t bend

    Confirm to the morals
