    Beautiful Mist

So fitting is your name ‘Noelani’

Meaning, a heavenly mist of beauty

One week old, with Christmas just a few days away

Your mom asks ‘’what do I want to do?’’ I don’t know what to say

Can’t think of anything else because you are here ‘’What do you want to do and where would you like to go?’’ My answer is ‘’nowhere’’

I’m content just for us to stay home and watch you sleep

To bathe you, feed you, walk with you, and change you when you need

A little Angel, that’s exactly what you are A beautiful cosmic sign ‘Estrella’, yes you’re a Star I love to see all the little facial expressions you make The frequency of your smile means you’re happy, that’s no mistake

The abundance of love that I have for you will never fade It will grow even stronger with each breathe you take Your extended family share the same love and joy that we do too They, including us, want to say Bienvenido al mundo and we love you

    A Mother’s Care

You deserve to be celebrated everyday Commended in songs, poems, dialect; every which way A comforting and soothing present in times of pain A tower of strength and refuge, whenever it rains

Your inexperience at first had no bearing

On whom you had become, loving and extra caring

Self was sacrificed the day I was born

When you wrapped me and hugged me to keep me warm

Your generosity has absolutely no limitation You tend to my every need at the slightest inclination Nurturing and caring have become second nature As you toiled daily, making plans for my future

Though stern at times, you instilled the right attitude Now that I’ve grown up, I want to express my gratitude Mother, mommy, mama, I simply want to say I love you dearly; have a wonderful mother’s day

    My Children

The way you have grown from a baby into a beautiful little child And always go around with your pretty little smile My children, I can see me in you

When you smile, when you laugh, when you cry When everything I ask you to do, you ask me why My children, I can see me in you

The way you talk, the way you walk The way you always act so smart My children, I can see me in you

When we hug or jokingly knock fist

And when you are going to bed and request a good night kiss My children, I can see me in you

The way you get shy when you cry Or get totally silent rather than telling a lie My children, I can see me in you

When it rains and the air gets cold And you run into my arms for me to hold My children, I can see me in you

When you play so hard in the back
