About this ebook
We all have different stories and different memories that make us individuals. However, life has a way of linking us all, by placing us in similar situations. These are just some of which Ive encountered. Sandhyia Gosine
Sandhyia Gosine
Sandhyia Gosine, who is known to family and friends as “Sandy” was born in the island of Trinidad and migrated along with her family, to the United States at an early age. The young poet began writing and using her work as a diary. She has now decided to share her inner most thoughts with us. Sandy is currently pursuing a Forensic Science degree with the intent of helping those who cannot be heard. She has chosen the title “A Walk through Life” because, she believes “while we’re walking through this journey that we‘re all traveling we learn the most valuable lessons which somehow prepare us for the milestones which are yet to come”.

image%201.jpgIntroduction
I would first like to welcome you, the readers, to my first publication. After sitting here and writing this introduction I can’t help but go back to the first day I started writing poems. I remember it as if it were just a couple of days ago. I was eleven years old, in the sixth grade; I had been introduced to reading poetry before, but had never actually written any of my own. My teacher told me she was having a competition to see who can write the best poem. She said, It doesn’t have to be lengthy but it needs to be meaningful
. I began writing and my poem was about four lines but my teacher continuously praised me for the meaning behind it. She took my poem and published it in the school’s monthly publication. I was so encouraged by her reaction that I continued writing more poems. I then began showing my family and I was continuously praised by them as well. Throughout the years I have been writing poems from my own perspective as well as those of others.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank my sixth grade teacher, you triggered something within me that I never knew existed. I would also like to extend my gratitude to my family. Mom and dad I love you very much, you have supported me in everyway possible, and often in ways, which at times, seemed almost impossible. I would also like to thank my sister Indira you’ve helped so much in raising me and was always there to listen to my poems. I would like to thank my brother Shivernand for his moral support along with all of the additional support he has given me, such as the publication of my poems in his book titled Dharma Vivek
. I would like to thank my sister Satira for being there every time I needed her to be and even when I thought I didn’t black.jpg . My brother Kailash for growing up with me and putting up with my good and bad days. He helped me grow tough enough to deal with the world but soft enough to love it. I would also like to acknowledge everyone that is or has been a part of my life; you have all inspired me in one way or another. Last but certainly not least, I would like to thank all of my readers, yes you! You have the book in your hands don’t you? black.jpg By doing so you have helped fulfill one of my life long dreams and that, means the world to me. Thank you and enjoy!
People Change
Some say things change and that’s their point of view
Some say people change, I would have to agree its quite true.
People change in attitude, looks and in deeds
People change in every country, race and in creed.
Some change for the better, some change for the worst
But I often noticed those who go the highest are the ones who change the most.
The Test of Love
Distances separated us, we were unable to touch
And how do I miss you so, only god and I
