How to Have a Good Day

    Sometimes when we wake,

We find the world has gone astray.

Our spirit drops to low esteem.

Not much good can come from today.

I hear the birds chirping outside,

Little rabbits running to and fro.

What is there for us to do

To make this day turn around?

Drink coffee on your porch swing.

Use those special flavors you got for Christmas.

Walk through a garden of flowers.

    Smell a bright-red rose.

Dress up in your best clothes.

Look at yourself in the mirror.

Say, You look really good for your age,

Then laugh as loud as you can.

Take a walk around the town square.

Stroke a kitten until it purrs.

Buy behind you in the 7-Eleven.

    Wear unmatched colors and socks.

    Buy a young soldier’s dinner.

Be proud of who you have become.

You are a uniquely created person.

There is no one as special as you.

Do a dance around the room.

    Call grandchildren on the phone.

Read old letters from a friend.

Draw a picture of your home.

Remind yourself that this day will end.

    Sunset is coming fast.

Smile as you watch the sun sink
