Dedicated to all my revered Gurus’
Preface
It is thanks to the persistent encouragement of my Gurus’ and family that this book is now achieved – for alone I would have repeatedly faltered by losing heart without their support and assurance.
Yoga is a practical science which deals with the physical as well as phychological aspect of human being. Yoga is a precious legacy of Ancient Indian culture science. Yoga is the foundation stone of happy and healthy life. It ensures not only physical well being but infuses a sense of tranquillity, balances physiological and psychological functioning with nature. This infusion does not come in a day or two but penetrates slowly and gradually from our consciousness to our unconscious one. Yoga embraces us as whole.
This book describes simply but in great detail the 46 Asanas (Postures) and 5 Pranayama’s (Breathing disciplines), providing a comprehensive introduction to yoga. It describes the techniques for 46 Asanas with the aid of photographs and it also covers 5 Pranayama’s with the aid of the photographs.
All the ancient commentaries have stressed upon the importance of working under the direction of a Guru (Master), and although my experience proves the wisdom of this rule, I have endeavoured with all humility in this book to guide the reader to a correct and safe method of mastering these Asanas and Pranayams.
I am sincerely grateful to my all Gurus. I am highly indebted to my father for introducing me to this world of Yoga. He has been a pillar of strength and support throughout my journey, so thanks Dad!
I express my sincere gratitude to Mr Dev and Mr Raj for their personal supervision and interest in taking innumerable photographs for me and for placing the resources of the studio at my disposal.

The science of Yoga is culmination of various aspect of Life – Gyan (philosophy), Bhakti (devotion), Karma (action) and Raja Yoga (mind control). Raja Yoga balances and
