Witness of Hell - Swagatam Sengupta

    1.

Nainital is a paradise-like city, far from the polluted city of green wood, brick and stone. Surrounded by mountains, all the people in this Nainital city are busy with their work all day long and have a beautiful relationship with everyone. As the morning sun makes the whole city red, so does the night rest in peace, as if sleeping in extreme peace?

But on the other side of this quiet city, a strange, terrible game was going on. A child is sitting in a half-light dark room with a trembling heart. The four-year-old didn't understand what was going on, just as if he were feeling an unknown panic. In the light of candles and torches burning in the room, he could only see a huge shadow of death. Some people standing next to him are muttering and saying something incessantly in front of that horrible shadow, the father of that child is in a bloody state of an impossible death. The child is looking at his father with a terrified look. Tears welled up in the child's eyes as he realized his father's pain. But that environment seemed to terrify him. As if at the age of four, that child is the witness of hell. The child did not understand, is his father being punished for his sins, maybe his father is being punished for any sin of the child?

The child saw someone standing in front of the shadow, raising his hand and saying something, as if he had surrendered something to the shadow like a very loyal servant, and immediately something like a spark ignited from a fire burning next to him. The man put a sharp knife in the shadow's hand. The shadow came forward with the knife to the father of the child lying on the ground, and then began to cut with the sharp knife on his hand. The baby's father screamed in pain, and a stream of blood came out of his hand. Then someone came and filled that beautiful cup with blood. Then that terrible shadow came with a cup full of blood and stood in front of a picture painted on a wall. What a horrible picture, a man with a bald head, a diseased and worn-out face, and a man with two huge wings sticking out from behind. Standing in front of the picture, the shadow seemed to say something about the cup full of blood. It was as if the shadow was screaming and saying something, and everyone was repeating the words of the shadow over and over again.

For so long the child had been looking at everything, but could not understand anything. In this dark room, everyone's face is blurred, obscure. Just to have a burning torch next to the picture painted in the wall, the picture seemed to shine even in the darkness. In the dim light, the child saw a huge statue of Jesus standing in a corner of the room. The child stared at the statue of Jesus for a moment with a pleading look, as if asking himself what is going on in front of you. Where am I? What happened to my father?

After a while, the shadow came towards the child. The shadow passed the cup full of blood to the child, and motioned for him to drink the blood. When the child saw the cup, he raised his face in terror and looked at the shadow, then removed his face from the cup and looked at his father who was lying on the ground. The child saw that his father did not have the strength to stand up, but still looked at him with tears in his eyes. The ground turned red with the blood coming out of his father's body. Suddenly the two of them started talking and grabbed the baby, and the terrible shadow forced the baby to open its mouth and shed the blood. The baby's whole face turned red with blood. It was as if a cry had come out of the baby's chest, but his throat seemed to promise a silence. The shadow took a large sword in his hand and looked at the picture on the wall, and then raised the sword in the air and shouted again and said something and put it firmly in the chest of the child’s father lying on the ground. The baby's father's body seemed to tremble for a while, and then calmed down. The four-year-old child looked at his father's tragic death. All the shadows in the room shouted for joy together. The child turned around and looked at the statue of Jesus in the corner of the room. The child looked in amazement and saw tears of blood coming down Jesus' eyes. The baby's ears were ringing with joy of these shadows, the sight of his father's last trembling body floating in front of his eyes, and the horrible picture on the wall that he will never forget, as if it were a picture in his brain.

Steve woke up with a loud bang on the door. The dream he had seen the night before had never left his head. This nightmare that happened every night seemed to be his nightmare, as if Steve was not getting rid of this pain at all. Steve's mother is still knocking on the door of the closed room. Steve shouted from the bed that he had woken up. Steve's mother told him that breakfast was ready at the table, so that Steve would be ready as soon as possible, because it would be too late for Steve's college. Steve has been very quiet since he was little, he keeps himself busy. After graduating, Steve was admitted to the best MBA College in the city. The rest of the college kids play different games inside the college, and participate in different college events, but Steve has no interest in that. Steve is handsome enough to see, and so many of his college girls are interested in him, but Steve is so quiet that Steve never looks at them.

Steve got out of bed and went to the adjoining bathroom in the room, freshened up for a while, got ready for college and came out of his room to the dining table. Steve saw his mother Emily and his honest father Jacob sitting at the dining table. At the other end of the table are Steve's two sisters, Maria and Ruby. The age difference between Maria and Steve is exactly three years. Steve's father died when he was seven years old, and just two years later Steve's mother Emily married Jacob. Jacob then became a widower Jacob's wife died leaving their three-year-old daughter. To make up for the lack of a relationship, Emily and Jacob decide that they will get married, and that Steve, Maria and Ruby, three brothers and sisters, will live together. According to Jacob, the three siblings grew up together, and there was no distance between the three. But despite the no distance between the siblings, Steve and Maria never gave Jacob the place of their father.

As soon as Steve came to the dining room table, Jacob looked at Steve from head to toe, and then saw Steve's ripped jeans, and various accessories all over his body, and Jacob said, Is this your college dress?

Steve did not answer, but Emily asked, You have some questions.

Steve replied Why? What's wrong with this dress?

Every place has certain rules and procedures. We have to follow them for the rest of our lives, Jacob said.

Steve replied I don't follow any rules or procedures.

It doesn't matter what you think or don't do, Jacob said.

Emily said in the middle, The dean of your college called me that day to complain about your behavior. And you don't take classes in college properly, you don't participate in sports? Do I know the reason for this behavior?

Steve bowed his head as he ate his breakfast and replied I don't like anyone to force anything on me.

Jacob said, Then why do you need to go to college?

Steve got up on the breakfast table, and then went out with his bag on his shoulder. Seeing Steve leave breakfast like this, Maria said, Couldn't you say these things later?

Jacob said, Did we say something wrong? Did you go to his room and see? There were pictures all over the wall, and everyone would say Steve was mentally ill. I thought I'd take him to a psychiatrist. Steve needed counseling.

Ruby finished her breakfast and said, He doesn't talk to anyone in college, he stays with himself all day. But is there so much to worry about?  Everything will be fine.

Jacob said But how will it be?

Maria said, Not all people in the world are the same, and there is no obligation for all people to like dancing, singing, or sports. Some people love to be inside themselves, what's the harm in that?

Jacob said, If Steve continues like this, his future will be ruined.

Maria said a little seriously, I don't think Steve should be bothered, he should be released.

Jacob explained, "What I'm saying is for the good of the child, for the good
