Before we begin this study of God’s love and laws, I would like to tell you a little about myself. I was one of nine children, raised by a very devout Christian mother (my father was not converted until many years later). She lived what she believed and did her best to teach her children to do the same. When I was young, it seemed less important and more of a nuisance, but her love for her children and her God persevered, and she never gave up.
As I grew older, I began to think more about God and my salvation, but I had a big problem in my mind. My mother taught us to worship on Saturday, while just about everybody else worshipped on Sunday. This bothered me much, as I didn’t know anybody in my early years who kept Saturday as a holy day except my mother. So, as a result, out of respect to my mother, I attended a Sabbath-keeping church for several years before I felt the urge to find out why I was going to church on Saturday instead of Sunday. I began some studies provided by the church and was convinced that the seventh-day Sabbath was what God had blessed and made holy for a day of rest each week.
Then one day I was visiting with my niece and she asked me why grandma (my mother) went to church on Saturday instead of Sunday. Even though I had given enough study to
