About this ebook

This is a book of memory verses and a chatecism. There is at least one verse from each book of the Bible, plus important lists, such and the names of all the apostles, tribes of Israel, and Books of the Bible. This is a great book for homeschools and anyone who wants to hide God's word in their heart. And really, how can God bring the scriptures you need to your mind if the aren't in your heart? Written by a homeschool mom for use with her own children. In fact, we use this book every school day. The Tracy's (Dad Andy, Mom Betty, Joy, Jim, Jonathon, Joseph, Jessica, Jennifer, Jacklynn, Jane, and Joshua, plus Jiffy dog, Stella cat, a Gecko, Beta fish, four finches, six rabbits and 22 chickens) are active in their church, pastored by Betty's dad, and enjoy long drives in the nearby farmlands and sunsets from their front porch.

    Introduction

The essential key is to tie your memorization sessions to some other activity that you are already in the habit of doing. This could be eating your meals, brushing your teeth, going to bed, or any other daily activity you already have the habit of completing.

Do not be discouraged if it is slow going at first. It takes time to build those memorization muscles. You would not go to a gym and expect to bench press 300 pounds the first day. It takes time to work up to it.

I would suggest that you start with some of the one-verse selections first and then move on to the longer ones. Alternately, you could pick one verse from each Book in order, or learn all the verses from the Catechism in order. Larger selections can be learned one or two verses at a time or all at once. You can expect it to take a little longer to start seeing results with the whole thing, though it might take less time overall.

Don’t be afraid to have little children memorize scripture right along with you. By simply going over it once a day, three days per week for a couple of months, my three year old was able to quote all of John 3:16, 17 for our church one Sunday morning. It just takes consistency and patience. Any child (or adult for that matter) who can memorize commercial jingles, can memorize scripture. Practice can be added to bedtime routines, the homeschool day, or as part of each meal.

The Catechism is a list of questions about God and salvation with answers and verses. Memorizing the Catechism is a time-honored way of instructing children and new converts in the basic doctrines of our faith. You can find the much more famous Westminster Catechism online or at Bible book stores. The one in this book is my own rewording of the Catechism for my own family reflecting our modern language and particular doctrinal beliefs.

Bible memorization is for everyone. Everyone can benefit from it. Give yourself and your family these benefits today

    The Old Testament

    Genesis 1- The Beginning

1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.

5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

    Genesis 28

15 Behold I am with thee and will keep thee in all place whither thou goest.

    Exodus 20- The Ten Commandments

3 Thou shalt have no other gods before Me.

4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image,

    5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to [idols], nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
