Nicole James Rubio

Nicole is a playwright, drama and fantasy author. She spent many years dreaming about becoming a published author and wrote plays and poems in her leisure. Then one day, her husband said, “Babe, if you want to write, then write. I gotcha.” That was her push to began her career as a writer. Before completely diving into writing as a business, she was a court reporter, court reporting instructor and owner of a court reporting firm. The field really helped her with her writing in terms of punctuation, grammar and editing, along with the ability to type 225 wpm, and dictation at 325 wpm, but it also slows her down, because she has been trained to correct errors as she's types, then proofread the sentence, then proof it again. Therefore, it can be extremely hard for her to do a rough draft as quickly as most other writers. In addition to writing, Nicole is an avid reader. She enjoys reading books that allow her to escape and visualize. Anything with a supernatural overtone will grab her attention immediately, even if it's a comic book. Topics dealing with angels, faeries, portals, dimensions, gods and mythology are books of interest as well. Nicole writes under the pseudonym Von Cook, for topics dealing with religion and Biblical instructions on spiritual warfare. On a personal note, she has two sons and lives in Florida with her husband. She enjoys bicycling, camping and the theater. Her greatest love is traveling to places that allow her to escape the noise of the world.

    The Powers of the Proverbs - Nicole James Rubio

    PROVERBS 1

    The Proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel.

    To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding;

    To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity;

    To give prudence to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.

    A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding will attain   wise counsel,

    To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark   sayings.

    The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and   instruction.

    My son, hear the instruction of your father, and forsake not the law of your mother:

    For they will be an ornament of grace unto your head, and chains about your neck.

    My son, if sinners entice you, do not consent.

    If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk secretly for the innocent   without cause;

    Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole as those that go down into the pit:

    We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil:

    Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse:

    My son, do not walk with them; keep your feet from their path:

    For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.

    Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird.

    And they lay wait for their own blood; they lurk secretly for their own lives.

    So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which takes away the life of the owners.

    Wisdom cries outside; she raises her voice in the streets.

    She cries in the chief places of streets, in the openings of the gates; in the city she speaks her   words, saying,

    How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their   scorning, and fools hate knowledge?

    Turn at my rebuke: I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto   you.

    Because I have called and you refused; I have stretched out my hand and no man regarded.

    But you have set at nothing my counsel, and did not want my reproof:

    I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear comes;

    When your fear comes as a desolation, and your destruction comes as a whirlwind; when   pain and sorrow comes upon you.

    Then they will call upon me, but I will not answer; they will seek me early, but they will not   find me.

    For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:

    They did not want my counsel: they despised all my reproof.

    Therefore they shall eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.

    For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy   them.

    But whoever listens to me will dwell safely, and will be secure from fear and evil.

    Ending Prayer : Keep me in the company of righteous men and women, dear Lord. Let me not be swayed by riches nor greed. Keep me, I humbly ask, quiet from all fear and evil of the day. And so it is.

    Chant: Friends that seek to lead me astray deliver me, Lord from their presence today.

    To Seek Guidance and Direction

    Read Verses 2 through 9 again. Light a white tea light candle and sit quietly in your sacred space and ask God for guidance. See the outcome of what you are petitioning. What does it look like? How does it make you feel? Focus on the flame while holding in mind your petition. Do this for about 15 to 30 minutes. Let the tea light burn out completely. Do this regularly until your petition is granted.

    Prayer to God

    Dear God, grant us wisdom to seek you during times of trouble. Provide us with the means and courage to stand. Shine upon us the Light of wisdom. Strengthen us with the courage of David; wrap us with the love of Jesus; humble us with the heart of Mary, and lead us with the pillar of fire by night and a cloud of glory by day. Amen.

    Keep your Children from Evil Friendships

    Read Verses 8 through 19 again. Get an image doll/poppet to represent your son or daughter or a picture will suffice. Place a crystal, and a glass of clear water (half full), and incense (preferably sage) near the Bible. Place the poppet on Proverbs 1:8-19 face up and sprinkle a pinch of salt on the poppet. Just a sprinkle not too much and let it fall where it may. Focus on your intentions. Let the poppet remain on the verses, until your child has chosen a better class of friends. You can also make a copy of the chapter if you choose and place your child's picture on top while repeating the above steps.

    Morning Prayer

    Dear God, choose for my children better friends than they will choose for themselves. Keep far from them the seducing spirits and whispers of the air. Let them not be swayed by evil or lying tongues from those who are thought to be wise. Keep them on the path of righteousness, walking in your godly ways. Let them test the spirits and act accordingly and know when to keep silent. Deliver them from the steps of death and error.  Let their friendships be filled with love and laughter, stand the test of time, and throughout eternity shine.  Amen.

    Peace in God

    Peace doesn't come from man or our possessions, but only when we dwell safely and trust in Jehovah Shalom, the God of our peace. Only then are we kept securely from fear and the evil of the day.

    PROVERBS 2

    My son, if you will receive my words, and hide my commandments with you;

    So that you incline your ear unto wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding;

    Yes, if you cry after knowledge, and lift up your voice for understanding;

    If you seek her as silver, and search for her as a hidden treasure;

    Then will you understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

    For the LORD gives wisdom: out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding.

    He lays up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.

    He keeps the paths of judgment, and preserves the way of his saints.

    Then shall you understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yes, every good path.

    When wisdom enters into your  heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto your soul;

    Discretion shall preserve you, understanding will keep you:

    To deliver you from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaks perverse things;

    From those who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;

    Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the perversity of the wicked;

    Whose ways are crooked, and they perverse in their paths:

    To deliver you from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flatters with her   words;

    Which forsakes the guide of her youth, and forgets the covenant of her God.

    For her house sinks unto death, and her paths unto the dead.

    None that go unto
