    INTRODUCTION

We all know that the most visible part of the body when it is clothed is easily your arms. When properly developed they can literally look like a pair of canons. There are a few other parts of the body that help make you look very aesthetic, such as having wide shoulders and upper back, a big broad chest, and even calves. Legs tend to be covered up most of the time, at least the larger meatier part of them.

Nothing tells the world, I work out like a pair of well-developed biceps, triceps and forearms. In fact, when someone says show me your muscle, we instinctively know to flex our upper arm. This makes sense considering it’s your arms that are usually displayed (if anything is to be displayed) to the world when fully dressed. Even a simple t-shirt shows them off. It also makes sense because its your arms that connect you to the world and we use our arms to handle and manipulate objects. If you go out to eat with friends, or you are on a hot date, and you reach for items out on the table, your arms will be out for everyone to see. Taking a drink from your glass will usually automatically flex your bicep. Muscular and well-defined arms usually means someone spends a decent amount of time in the gym.

Personal training clients typically come to their trainers with all kinds of requests. The most common goals are to lose weight, or to gain muscle (or both) but when clients are asked to get specific with areas of their body that they wanted to focus on, arms are usually in the top 3. Even female clients want to build and define the muscles of their arms. There always has been a strong demand from fitness clients for developed arms. When you consider the popularity of wanting well developed arms, it’s no wonder that arm training is riddled with myths and bro science. It’s been this way for decades. There are always articles in magazines, blog posts, or social media posts about some new secret for arm training…and the secret is usually hype and crap information.

The primary reasons why the vast majority of people who struggle with arm development can be narrowed down to 3 major mistakes. You probably fall into this category. Read this guide and apply these time tested and basic principles within it and watch your arms finally respond and grow.

    TRAINING OVERVIEW

In order to get big arms, you can’t expect to do a few curls and a maybe some cable pressdowns here and there and expect to have big results. You have to use a proper mix of training, nutrition, and rest. In terms of training, you have to use a wide variety of  intensity, volume, and frequency for best results. You also can’t just depend on isolation exercises like the ones I mentioned above. You have to overload them with a lot of weight by doing compound exercises as well.

In terms of training there are many different ways of stimulating new growth. You have to train insane or remain the same. Shock the muscle, never use the same routine for too long. After about 6-8 weeks of the same exercises, it’s time to change things up. It is critical to use variation, but you also can’t over variate, or you will lack the ability to progressively overload the muscle over time with a given exercise. Yes, an isolated workout with a particular set of exercises does some good and will build some muscle, but for the best results, you must pick a handful of core exercise of which to improve upon. Done with increasingly better technique and steadily increasing weight provides much better results that will
