For generations, progressives have been attempting to curb individual liberty in order to construct what they claim will be a more prosperous and peaceful society. Unfortunately, many of them are motivated by an underlying insecurity, bigotry, and mistrust in other people’s abilities to make good decisions for themselves. Some progressives have even studied the revolutionary ideas of modern European discontents, whose thoughts and writings, while contemporaneous with the rise of the United States, led to communism and socialism.

It is natural for all people to experience anxiety and even fear when confronted with their own vulnerability and eventual mortality. Rather than strive to overcome their own imperfections through effort, American progressives wish to impose this same fear on the masses in order to solicit their compliance with a plan of rigid uniformity—the total opposite of freedom. Progressives have not yet learned the lesson that the road to hell is paved with good intentions; many of their efforts have actually done much more economic and social harm than good.
