notePulling Out All The Stops
I’m going to jump right in here, because my guess is, if you’ve been or are where I was then, you need help now. Before introductions, methodologies and stories, I’m going to tell you right now that life stagnation can be a serious matter of life and death. You know what this book is about so that’s probably where you are to some degree, so this is serious business. Pay attention like your life depends on it, because it might. Soak up these pages and use these words to activate something in you. Allow something to be so inspirationally triggered, you can’t help but think about the changes you want in your life, but don’t allow yourself to be defeated before you get started because it’s too intimidating. Just stop already. Despair doesn’t work.
One big reason you might be stuck where you are is because you sincerely believe your future is going to be only what you’ve known and experienced up to this point and you’re still experiencing it now. That may include what you think you deserve, how much of a failure you think you are or feeling like you don’t have control of your life. I’m going to go out on a limb and say, ultimately, you want freedom, emotional balance, control of your circumstances and real sustainable peace, yes? So! A bridge must be constructed from where you are now to your future. That means, starting now, if you know and apply something you’ve never tried before, something different, you can, indeed, have a different future, the opposite of your past.
The entire theme of this book is don’t get stuck in the rut of thinking the rest of your life is only going to be what you know now.
If you stay with me through these pages, I’ll stay with you through my words. So we’re going to be a team now. But I can’t reach through this book and shake you by the shoulders and yell stay on track!!
My sincerest hope is that you’ll seriously utilize this book as a powerful resource to literally upbuild your life out of the broken pieces of yourself—out of nothing. If this book is going to collect dust on your bookshelf because you aren’t applying what you’re reading, seriously, save your money for some little petty thing that isn’t going to do anything to help you overcome yourself. Don’t discard me because you procrastinate and have poor follow-through (and have trouble admitting that) or all of these pages were written in vain. As I write this on December 6, 2017, I dream of you one day writing to me saying Rebecca, this book changed my life. So many wonderful things have happened and I’m so happy! Thank you for not allowing me to give up on myself because I thought I couldn’t make it or do anything. At first I thought you were harsh and crappy but now I see you just didn’t tolerate me perpetuating my cycles of defeat and weakness. Yaaaaaaay! Thank you!
You can read all the spiritual stuff in the world and sit in rooms thick with incense smoke all day, but until you apply your learning in practical ways in your daily life, it’s just stagnant knowledge doing nothing. If you’re afraid of where you are, what you’ve become and of your future, don’t leave me on the table. Don’t put me on the bookshelf or leave me in the back floorboard of your car. Right here, right now, commit to me and yourself to be diligent in applying what you read because again, it ultimately boils down to life or death. If you want out of your hole, pull out all the stops, pay attention and get focused. This is no time to be flailing about.
If you want the soft treatment, you won’t find it here because I’m not going to let you run yourself over and stall the progression of your life. This is about you getting sharp, strong, resilient and in control of your life. Your phone, social media, politics, TV and crappy people in your life aren’t going to swoop in and rescue you. They care nothing for you and yet you might be devoting way too much time to them. I want you to have freedom, direction, happiness and peace. So when you’re feeling crappy, discouraged, lonely, fearful or directionless, use this book and reference it frequently!! I mean, I totally want pages falling out and the cover ripping off because you’re always going back and saying Where’s that chapter on what to do when I can’t get out of my head??!
and Where’s that part that explains why being alone is a good thing??
Send me pictures of your book falling apart (and no, don’t destroy it for funsies and send me a picture of it. Be nice!). Also know that many things will be repeated throughout this book. I’m not doing it to drive you crazy or to be overly redundant, I promise. I’m doing it so things really sink in, because it’s important. So if you’re seeing it more than once (and you will), it’s an absolute staple in getting unstuck and finding real peace in your life.
Okay, before I get in too deep, I’m going to say, there are many names for God; Source, Divinity, Creator, Spirit, Allah, Universal-Consciousness, etc., but I’m going to go with God because it’s the shortest. Also, if you apply the knowledge here, know it will take you through a life changing process (which might sound relieving now, but people tend to be afraid of change which is why they get stuck, so I’m giving you a heads up). Also know, that once this occurs, you can never go back to where you’ve been (are now) because it may literally repulse you (you’ll feel this along the way; it’s a good thing—it’s a guide). Doing so would be like voluntarily going to prison for fun; it just won’t happen. It’s not going to happen overnight because it’s a very specific process with a Divine design. But don’t let this discourage you from starting because discouragement means you’ll be exactly where you are now 10 years from now. My guess is you’ve been in this boat for the last 10 years, at least, so it’s seriously time to abandon ship. If you want something different in your life, you have to do something different, or rather, become something different. And even if you feel like your life is falling apart, you’re alone and have no direction, you’re actually in a better place than you think. Whether you feel it right now or not, you and God are a majority against everything that seems unsurmountable to you. And something is coming, something huge; something God-given if you know how to receive it.
Initial Boring Intro Stuff and Your New Boat
I’m Rebecca Rockwood, Certified Spiritual Counselor, Awakenings Minister and Spiritual Teacher. I have an office in the West suburbs of Chicago and an MSW I’ve never formally
used. None of these things qualified me to help people the way I do. Some heavy suffering and Divine Communion qualified me and that’s the truth. My clients say I can be a bit of a hard-ass but also say they like it because I don’t allow them to wallow in their pity party— the party’s over the minute they walk through my door. I’m going to do the same with you because it’s necessary, so don’t take it personally. One tiny pebble can look absolutely mountainous to you which can literally stop the entire forward progression of your life. Thus, you’re not going to get off the hook with me because you fear an illusion. Just relax and bear with me.
People say my style is gentle but firm.
How? Because every word I write and say is directly for your higher good, even when you can’t possibly see how. So, I take the hit in your thinking I’m an ice queen but by the end you’ll be thanking me. Because if you’re still reading, you’ve probably been sitting in a sinking boat for years, throwing up your S.O.S. flares to God with no answer, no rescue, leaving you alone in dark, frigid waters in a state of constant panic. You swing between depression and anxiety because you’re stuck and don’t have a compass to provide direction or a GPS to show your location. And I’m sure your propeller and oars sank long ago. So you worry (understandably so). Constantly. And it seems like everything bothers you—bright lights, people, the fast pace of life,
drama, technology—and you seriously wonder Is this my life? Is this how my life is going to be forever?
So you’re essentially in a sinking boat while simultaneously being shocked by a cattle prod. Fun times. And that’s not including any incoming storms.
My life work and the work I do with people revolves around one principle: As a spiritual being at your core and your awareness of it, you cannot solve material-world issues without cultivating and utilizing your spiritual faculties. It’s different if you aren’t spiritually awake, living life lukewarm and totally unaware of anything bigger than the physical world. You’re set in a routine, life never extends beyond your comfort zone and it’s maddeningly mundane. But once you have some sort of experience that sheds light to the fact there is definitely more than just the physical world, well, there’s certainly no back-pedaling.
You may have walked the line between the spiritual and physical world, unable to keep a hold of the peace the spiritual gives you and wondering where you fit in the physical world.
