About this ebook
stress is something many of us in westernized society accept as part of life even though it leads to unhappiness and if prolonged causes serious health conditions.
this book invites the reader to be the captain of the boat on a shared journey with the author who navigates as they cover seven legs of a proactive journey.
each leg explores the deeper root causes of stress offering the author's perspective for the reader’s consideration and at the end of each leg a stop at the port encourages the reader to reassess where they’ve travelled.
packed with power statements, the main intention of this book is to engage the reader in recognising the very great power we all have in our every day lives yet sometimes give away without even realising it.

The Secrets of Stress - LB Bacchus
INTRODUCTION
Are you a Stress Head?
Stress Head??!!....Who d’ya think you are?!!!….You don’t know me!!......Last thing I want to do is read anything written by someone who’s calling me a Stress Head!...I picked up this book because I want someone to take me seriously……. to recognise …
I’M STRESSED!!!…
IT’S SERIOUS!!! …
I NEED HELP!!!
OK, this opener mightn’t even apply to you but if it does and it seems insensitive and you’re about to hurl this book or shut down your laptop, kindle, or ipad as of now you’re reading this sentence, so you’re still with me! So with the seconds I may have left, can I offer an apology if it annoyed or upset you? I know stress could be an uncomfortable reality in your world otherwise you probably wouldn’t have been drawn to this book in the first place. Whilst you won’t know it now, I do have my reasons for my strange introduction, and I hope, if you decide to stay with me, that my intention will be revealed by the end of this book.
Hey, were you irritated or surprised even by a little smidgeon at my opening question? After all as I said before, I don’t know you.....You don’t know me ….So strangely we’re in the same ‘boat’!…..Now as we’re here, do you fancy a ‘boat’ ride?….. A trip that could take us to a hidden place, a place where a secret treasure chest of gold nuggets is buried?
The secret treasure I refer to, already belongs to you and once found could make you so rich and powerful that stress will be like your best friend. You’ll have the power to tame your stress if you want to. To use it to your advantage or vanquish it whenever it rears its Stress Head!!!…..A place where you can discover: The Secrets of Stress.
Ok, so now you’re really confused?...boats?....gold nuggets?...secret treasure? And now, to add to your confusion here’s an invitation….
I, invite you, Unknown Person
To join me on a journey of discovery.
Dress code:
As you wish but preferably comfortable….Suits and ties, corsets and killer heels may impair mobility in the event of choppy currents.
Equipment & tools:
Everything necessary will be provided but a willingness to discover and be open to learning new skills will ensure a wholesome, successful journey.
Health & Safety Requirements:
You must be willing to inhale and exhale at a calm, steady rate.
You mustn’t bring sharp tools, glass or objects that can be lobbed or smashed.
You must be willing to release your hair and perform no other self-inflicted aggression.
Are you coming?
If you are, we’ve got to do the prelimary stuff so here it is:
There’s a lot of information in this short book. Certain parts you’ll already know, other parts you may have an idea of, other parts may be completely new to you. Some parts may make you feel at ease, some parts may challenge and frustrate you because you mightn’t understand them immediately, some parts may inspire and empower you.
Everything that’s contained in this book’s designed to question, inform and encourage you so that your journey forward will be smoother and empowered.
Purposely, it’s not a huge book because it contains aspects of ‘living’ information which invites you to become proactive in the process. There’s every possibility that if you wanted to, you could read the whole book in just a few hours! The words are a prompt.
To understand this book fully, you may choose to go back and read it a few times.
You can skip parts, read from the back to the front, answer the questions or not answer the questions. This is your journey and you’re in control. If you decided to, everytime you read this book your assessment of it is likely to change. The key to understanding what you’re reading, is to check how you feel. If you read something that irritates you or you disagree with, or you agree strongly with, you’re on track.
Why?
Because you’ll have engaged with the words and would be consciously choosing your response. You’re encouraged to allow yourself time to take in the information, question the content, and if you agree, and the information resonates with you, take it on board.
This book could present you with the key to begin to fully understand, question, probe and discover exactly where you are on your journey and the reasons why you are where you are. Fully understood, you’ll recognise how your journey can be empowered by your conscious choice now and in the future and that choice can lead to at best, a stress-free life or at worst a stress controlled life.
This book’s alive and written by someone like you, for you. Its author’s experienced numerous challenges, weathered severe storms as she’s navigated her course through life. She’s been blown off course many times and found herself almost drowning in unchartered waters with seemingly little chance of rescue yet even in the most treacherous seas, her willingness to explore, acccept and instinctively and intuitvely connect with her determination to reach calmer seas has helped her to devise it. It hopefully will now help you to discover irrespective of the circumstances in your life at the moment, the power you have to change your life (if you choose to), harnesss your own strength (if you choose it) and to discover (if you don’t know it) The Secrets of Stress.
***
Before we set sail we have to decide on our roles for the journey……I hope you don’t mind, but as this is your journey I’ve no choice but to nominate you Captain of this boat, but don’t worry if you don’t feel ready you have a fantastic crew who won’t let you down and will steer you safely.
So, what would you like to discover on this journey?……
A quick fix to reduce stress?
If you think, ‘yes’ it’s necessary to consider the following:
Your age now and the number of seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months and years that make up your age.
That every second, minute, hour, day, week, month and year you’ve lived has shaped who you are today and that today you’re a unique, complex human being that gets stressed.
Is a quick fix appropriate for you?
If your answer’s still yes, you’ll find parts of this book useful, some sections you’ll skip over because you’ll only be interested in the parts that tell you how to deal with your stress quickly. You don’t have the time for much else anyway, and in any case you only suffer short bursts of stress.
On the other hand if you’d like to discover a more lasting solution that’ll enable you to reduce or eliminate any future stress in your life, it’s necessary to consider the following also:
Your age and the number of seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months and years that make up your age.
That every second, minute, hour, day, week, month and year you have lived has shaped who you are today and that today you’re a unique, complex human being that’s now stressed.
You’ll find all or most parts of this book useful. Parts you may skip over but you’ll go back to make sure you cover everything whether you end up agreeing with it or not. You recognise that a quick fix is like putting a plaster over a gaping wound. It covers it up for a time but the wound still needs to be aired and cleaned for it to heal properly. You’ve decided that you’re worthy of the time you’ll find to invest in you.
So what credentials will a Captain of this boat need?
The criteria to becoming a Captain with mastery of his vessel is as follows:
You’ll need to be able to give yourself permission to accept that there may be aspects of your life that cause you stress and that you’re willing to take responsibility for all or part of it.
You’ll need to be able to give yourself permission to accept that whilst we share this journey that you’re free to look closely at, and acknowledge that sometimes or all of the time you feel out of control of certain or all aspects of your life.
You’ll need to be able to give yourself permission to explore aspects of your unique self that only you can judge and no one else’s
