...And Why Not? - Sophie Burrus-Müller
INTRODUCTION
Hello! If you are reading these lines, it’s probably for a reason. Either you came across this book while browsing and the title caught your attention, or you heard about it from a friend, or someone gifted it to you…
Whatever the reason, I am thrilled that someone has picked up this book! Hopefully, in the next few lines, I will capture your attention and motivate you to continue reading the next few pages.
Here I am, pounding away at my keyboard, just 6 weeks away from my due date to deliver my first child. I had an epiphany at 4 AM last night that …And Why Not?
would be the topic I attempted to write a book about.
The aim would be to share my words of wisdom on what I have experienced so far in my life, and hopefully this will help you or someone you know who has experienced or is currently experiencing a similar situation.
What situation am I talking about, you might wonder? Well, I mean the situation that we all go through in life at some point—some more subtly than others, but we all go through it. One day, we wake up or something happens in our life that makes us realize something needs to change. We notice that there is something deep down inside of us, what we often describe as a gut feeling,
that says we need to do things differently or try something new.
Do you have that feeling now? Or have you faced this feeling before?
Are you among the lucky ones who know what needs to change but have no clue where this path will take you?
Or do you know where this change will take you but don’t know what the next step should be?
You’re probably wondering: Is this the right change to make? Am I on the right path? Is this the right thing to do? Will it turn out for the best?
Yes, I know this can be nerve-wracking and frustrating, and it can often lead us to the decision not to make any changes purely out of fear. This is the famous fear of the unknown. However, I have learned and live from the philosophy that if you don’t try, you can never know.
So, you want to make a change or try something new in life… and why not?
Of course, I’m not telling you to live your life recklessly and put your hand on a hot stove because you feel like testing it. You know that your hand will get burned, and you are probably better off avoiding unnecessary pain and keeping both hands healthy. So, it’s important that you weigh up the pros and cons of the decision you are about to make. I’m probably
