Writing books is one of the most delicious feelings I can imagine. Discovery, adventures, psychology, mystery, all is one story for your and my great pleasure. I was one of those lucky guy who was the happiest when the bad weather outside confined me in my bedroom, a book propped against my pillow. I forgot the real world, entering in a new one I was looking after. Little surprise that I went from reading words to writing them.

Introduction
This work aims to show the application of the theory of hexagrams to situations of social interaction. The author develops the classical position according to which the lower trigram denotes a person, and the upper one denotes the environment in a broad sense. The upper trigram also symbolizes the state, boss, team, firm, senior. The lower trigram also denotes a subordinate, subjects, a junior.
Once again, for readers who want to get the Absolute Knowledge, the Secret of the Universe, the DNA Code, the Meaning of Life, and so on, I respectfully leave this to the wiser.
To be extremely critical, we cannot translate and interpret the Book of Changes. It's like translating and interpreting watch dial numbers without knowing about chronometers.
But we can use these symbols to create strategic patterns of interaction. This is all the more logical since most of the aphorisms provide precisely the guidance for action.
We cannot explain what the Book of Changes
symbol sequence is. But we can use these symbols to model interaction situations.
A feature of this work is the way of choosing a hexagram. Instead of fortune-telling options, it is proposed to construct a hexagram based on an analysis of the situation. Each hexagram consists of two trigrams that enter into relationships of struggle, cooperation, control, suppression, and others.
I confess that I deliberately composed the book so that the hexagrams are not numbered. On the one hand, this will make it difficult to work on parallel study, and compare comments. On the other hand, after reading this work, you will have a whole picture, and having seen the hexagram, without even remembering its name, you will be able to determine what strategy it represents. That is, you can independently interpret any hexagram! Perhaps you will understand the principle after reading only the first few pages, perhaps you will want to read the book to the end. Frankly speaking, the text of the comments to the aphorisms will reveal a lot of interesting things to you. There are tons of exciting stories here. Sometimes aphorisms clearly define the situation, sometimes the hints are very vague. There are cases when aphorisms are intended for the stupid, there are - for the perfectly wise. There are aphorisms for the strong and the weak, the honest and the dishonest. Sometimes the author of the aphorisms sympathizes with the questioner, and sometimes vice versa. Hope my comments will help you sort out this fascinating confusion of tips. And if you yourself can find the thread, and understand the logic of these constructions, then you too can make your own judgments.
So, before you - 64 basic options for interaction.
As you know, the I Ching is written using two types of writing. The first is the symbols - gua. These are three traits - whole or interrupted. Doubling, they give hexagrams. Purely mathematically, 64 character combinations are possible. According to legend, they were given to people in the pre-written period of history. They are unshakable, perceived figuratively, the same in all ages and in all cultures. At one - the least - this is not the language of the people. These symbols are a reflection of reality, they are closer to the language of the computer than to human reasoning. It is these symbols that are interesting to people in all centuries of the development of civilization. In order to correctly understand a symbol, a person needs a key - an aphorism. Then the abstract symbol comes to life
, illuminates the human consciousness.
Aphorisms are written using the second type of writing - Chinese characters. Hieroglyphs are also symbols, and their meaning is also ambiguous. Put together, they form aphorisms - an example of living human thinking. But, if the meaning of the aphorism is lost, it is no longer a key
- understanding does not occur. The peculiarity of the Book of Changes
is the grandiose antiquity of the aphorisms. It is customary to date the aphorisms to the Zhou era - the time of the formation of the first developed feudal state in China. The meaning of many of them was forgotten already in the Middle Ages, which gave rise to numerous comments. But the comments do not provide insight...
The classic work of Yu. K. Shutsky has been known in Russia for many years. This great event is the emergence of such an accurate and detailed translation. But with all due respect to Yuri Konstantinovich, his reasoning often does not quite fall in unison
with the aphorisms. He illustrated aphorisms in relation to the theory of knowledge. This is a very strange choice, and the result was... inexpressive. Frankly speaking, there was no system in this translation, and in this form this work is in no way applicable to reality.
Of course, I do not mean that by selecting the hexagram could calculate trajectories of space rockets, but still... what people need - is to create a model of reasoning structure, is not it?
What surprised me personally in the concept of Yu. K. Shutsky? The main contradiction is that the symbols are extremely simple, the logic of changes in symbols is absolutely logical, and the reasoning is absolutely vague, completely non-systematic, and not predictable. For a number of symbols, we can easily complete the next symbol, but we are completely unable to understand the logic of the following explanation!
With all due respect to domestic researchers, their variants reading Book of Changes
at the output of a given - the delirium generator.
Why did it happen? In my opinion, one side of the problem is that we do not really know for what purpose the original symbols were created. That is, at the very first stage, the original meaning is lost.
Let me explain with an example. Suppose the course of our civilization would be different, and all logical and gambling games would disappear. Science would develop, art would develop, and suddenly archaeologists would dig up a deck of poker cards. Imagine, scientists are exploring the artifact and discover the coded message from the past
, the series of numbers, symbols, which - it is absolutely harmonious system, which, of course, talking about very important things possible in this system of hidden knowledge about the evolution of the universe! We have approximately the same situation with the symbols of the Book of Changes
.
In addition to symbols, there is a second row of information - aphorisms. Imagine again an alternative civilization, which, along with a set of poker cards, received a certain set of archaic sayings, such as the six beats the ace
. Imagine every card with this statement. If one draws to these statements the logic of the behavior of subatomic particles, or the evolution of stars, then we will receive a huge number of comments, and they may be... logical within themselves, but do not form the correct sequence, the meaning of the chain will be incomprehensible to us.
Now is the time to draw the boundaries of our capabilities.
Can we know who, when, and why created the gua symbols? - Definitely not.
Can we understand the original meaning of the symbols? - No.
Is there a system in symbols? - Definitely yes!
Can we apply this system to modeling real-life situations or processes?
Of course, on what - the level of abstraction can.
For example, the yin - yang system of symbols , for all its simplicity, is successfully used to describe situations of interaction of multidirectional forces.
The same is with the system of hexagrams - we can certainly use it to model situations of interaction, but not of paired oppositely directed forces, but objects that differ in three qualitative features.
Yu. K. Shutskiy argues in the spirit of describing the processes of the creation of the world and the evolution of the Universe. Archaic aphorisms are somehow more down to earth
, do not correspond to these complex reasoning.
Then, perhaps, it is worth discarding the comments and returning to the aphorisms?
The problem with aphorisms is that their context was often lost in antiquity. And without the context of these sayings will not indicate what - something concrete, understandable situation.
Again, a little explanation. We say fish on ice
. A person who does not know the proverbs can think anything, usually fish and ice
he associates with the counter of a hypermarket. But the one who knows aphorism, understand that we are talking about the desperate efforts, fully engaged in the work, without any - any prospects of success. Or: dead poultice
. A foreigner studying Russian will be stumped, while a Russian will easily explain that this is about the uselessness
