Wanda Byrne
Wanda Byrne wrote The Poetic Wheel of Life after teaching astrology in the Adult Education classes at Hersey High School in Arlington Heights, IL. She also lectured widely at that time, introducing the northwest suburbs to a resurgence of astrology. Her interest in metaphysics then led her to teaching classes in Pyscho-Cybernetics, the Tarot and Meditation.

PREFACE
The Wheel of Life
brings us everything we need to
accomplish our goals. But these accomplishments are not ours
alone, since they are also dependent on the help of others. The
Poetic Wheel of Life would never have been published nor written
for that matter were it not for the angels, earthly and heavenly,
who helped me along the way.
The love and understanding of my husband, Stewart, gave me
the strength to overcome great odds. My children, Juanita and
Stephen, fulfilled my longing to be a mother. Reverend Ralph
Smith, now deceased, became my spiritual mentor. He gave me
the keys I needed to solve many of the aggravating mysteries of my
life. In addition to these dear souls and their help, my life was
completed by a circle of special friends here on earth that i think
of as earth angels.
I was teaching astrology when the idea for the Poetic Wheel
of Life came to me. i saw it as a helpful guide for beginning
students of astrology, a guide that would also stimulate their
interest in the subject by showing how astrology touches every
area of life. Upon completion of the book, the input and
encouragement I received from Amy Bunce and Virginia
Alexander (better known in astrological circles as Gina Knight)
is inestimable. Furthermore, Amy’s insight and artistic talent
led to her ingenious conception of this book cover. I am also
indebted to Shirley Nicholson for her helpful suggestions and
to Carole Kettering for the part she played.
However, in spite of the help I received at that time,
circumstances suddenly changed. I lost heart and pursued other
interests, putting the abandoned manuscript in a drawer. Then,
long after giving up the idea of being published, along came
Dr. Robert H. Knapp. I had read the books he co-authored* and
attended two of his workshops. After the last one, I made an
appointment to see him. I felt strongly in need of guidance and
was sure he could supply it. I brought along a few poems I thought
he could relate to. During the session, after listening to each poem,
he would say, You have to be published.
He also gave me several
suggestions on how to do it. At the end of our session, Dr. Knapp
looked at me, as if very determined, saying, "The seeds you planted
long ago are ready to harvest. I’ve said it four times now, you have
to get published."
In a hasty reply I said, OK, OK, I get it. I’ll do it.
(Now I
knew why it was important to see him).
Although committed to being published, I wondered how to
pull it all together. My old computer had gone to computer heaven.
There was much re-writing to do. Many things had changed since
the books inception, including me. But Dottie Rathje, another
angel in my circle of friends, came to the rescue big time. With
enthusiasm, she volunteered to prepare the manuscript for
publication on her newly acquired computer! Luck like that must
have meaning, don’t you think?
Whether you are a seasoned astrologer, a beginner, or just
curious about your sun sign and what you can learn about yourself,
there is something for everyone in the Poetic Wheel of Life. May it
be as helpful to you in reading it, as it has been to me in writing it.
