What Is A KetoGenic Diet - Ravacheay Latta

    WHAT IS A KETOGENIC DIET?

The ketogenic diet is a low-carbohydrate diet consisting mostly of foods that are high in fat. In other words: you eat a lot of fat and keep your carbohydrate intake to a minimum.

The ketogenic diet keto diet resembles low-carb diets, the Atkins diet, for example, in many ways.

However, there is a difference between a ketogenic diet and a low-carb diet:

As the name suggests, the low carb diet is all about avoiding carbs.

The ketogenic diet promotes a diet high in fat to stimulate fat burning. You drastically reduce your carbohydrate intake and replace them with large amounts of fat.

After a few days, the elimination of carbohydrates, the body turns carbohydrates into glucose, and the body's main energy puts the body in a metabolic state known as ketosis.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF A KETOGENIC DIET?

Low-carbohydrate, high-fat diets have been a topic of debate for a long time. Because of the high-fat content, this diet was thought to raise cholesterol and increase cardiovascular disease risk.

Thankfully, times are changing, and high-fat, low-carbohydrate diets are no longer frowned upon. A fat-free diet will not help you lose as much weight as a ketogenic diet will.

The ketogenic diet has some less evident advantages as well. Blood sugar spikes may be minimized by removing simple carbohydrates from your diet. Since the ketogenic diet is mostly fat-based, it offers a high satiety degree.

The three macronutrients are the most important components of our diet.

The amount of calories per gram varies according to the nutrient:

Proteins have a caloric value of around 4 kcal per gram.

    Carbohydrates: 4 calories per gram

9 calories per gram of fat

A simple calculation can lead you to believe that the best way to lose weight is to eat as little fat as possible. After all, they're higher in calories, right? This is where the mistake is! We must also consider the impact of each calorie form.

The following are the key effects of various calories on the body in terms of weight loss:

Insulin is a hormone that induces fat accumulation when it is released in excess.

Satiety occurs as the body stimulates satiety receptors and/or prevents hunger hormones.

    Proteins:

    Moderate insulin production

    Maximum satiety

    Lipids:

    Minimal insulin production

    Moderate satiety

    Carbohydrates: important!

    Maximum insulin production

    Minimal satiety

You're probably conscious that eating too many calories from carbohydrates isn't a good idea. You then develop a lot of insulin, a fat-storage hormone, even though you're not hungry.

On the other hand, protein and fat have even more satiety, making a ketogenic diet easier to stick to overtime.

EPILEPSY MANAGEMENT AND THE KETOGENIC DIET

The ketogenic diet's advantages go beyond weight loss.

About one-third of children with epilepsy have a negative reaction to anti-epileptic medications currently accessible. The ketogenic diet works well for more than 70% of these kids.

A few weeks on the ketogenic diet is enough to see success in this community of kids. Epileptic seizures have become much less common, and some have even disappeared.

WHY DO YOU LOSE WEIGHT ON A KETOGENIC DIET?

Insulin sensitivity is reduced when significant quantities of simple sugars are consumed regularly.

Insulin is a key factor in fat accumulation. Since the body can only store a certain amount of glucose, an excess causes fat mass to increase.

Incorporating high-fat foods into the everyday diet instead of carbohydrates reduces insulin levels and increases insulin sensitivity. Your body reaches ketosis and starts to burn fat more effectively.

The following are the top three reasons why the ketogenic diet helps you lose weight:

The ketogenic diet lowers insulin production and improves blood sugar regulation,

Satiety comes easier and lasts longer when you eat more protein and fat.

Since a diet high in proteins and lipids causes satiety, it is possible to minimize regular calorie intake, resulting in weight loss over time.

The body gets its energy mostly from fat, allowing more body fat to be burned.

Ketosis also inhibits ghrelin secretion, another advantage of the ketogenic diet.

Since it increases appetite, ghrelin is generally referred to as the hunger hormone. When you lose weight, the ghrelin level rises because your body is biologically programmed to survive.

The ketogenic diet encourages weight loss and helps you to lose weight quicker than a low-fat diet because
