    Chapter I

    It Begins with YOU!

    The first and foremost fact that we need to teach ourselves is that it all starts from you: happiness, sadness, despair, love, content, confidence, everything!

    This may seem trivial, but is more important than you've ever imagined. The fact that you are the only person who can give you happiness is more than a philosophy or fact – it is a technique – a technique by which you can use every single pebble, boulder, or gem as cobbles to pave your path to success and happiness!

    Of course, we'll see how, we are not leaving you at that. But on our journey forward together, this little inception is going to help you imbibe everything we'll talk about you, and your happiness.

    The only way you can value yourself is by loving yourself. Self-love, today, has an undeserved bad reputation solely because it is misunderstood and abused. Some people take self-love to be some form of narcissism, by which the method tends to hurt the feelings of others.

    But the beautiful truth about true Self-love is that, it is the only elixir/bulb of light, that can guide you to being happy, acceptance, and accepting others. The most amazing thing for you on Earth, would come from within you.

    Just like the bloom of a flower or the hatching of an egg, you have everything you need to shine within yourself – you only need to realize that.

    In the following little instalments, we'll see how to achieve this realization. Together, we'll change the way you see yourself, treat yourself, talk to yourself, and talk about yourself.

    Treat Yourself Right

    Can you make mistakes in the way you treat yourselves? Absolutely yes!

    As we discussed earlier, this seemingly piffling (but potent) reservoir of power is hard to harness but just as rewarding.

    The common mistake that leads to the failure of self-love is seeing it as a taming of the mind, which cannot be farther from reality. Your mind is no beast that needs to be tamed with a whiplash. The mightiest lions and dangerous snakes know love just the way puppies do. They can be befriended and taught and they can reciprocate the love just as well. Your mind is not that difficult. Just know that our so-thought complicated, sophisticated mind craves love more than a kitten.

    Our trick is, thinking of it as though you are raising your baby.

    When it's your own baby, would you want them to be loved by everyone, and won't you love them yourself? Would you be too tough on them? Would you let them be the way they are, accept it, and also show them the right way? And ultimately, wouldn't you want to set an example for them?

    We also have seen from so many real-life examples where attention and love children receive shape them. In the same way, lack of Self-love can make a man belittle themselves.

    Is your mind to be blamed?

    Never!

    Never actually blame your mind for the mishaps that occur in your life. Instead, learn from the mistakes it has made.

    Tell your mind, let's be ready next time. Never ever say I did this. Or else, your mind will be too scared to make decisions the next time it will need to; and you would not even know! Fear is a plague that can take over the whole mind on all the levels; unless you let it start in the first place. Trim away propping fears before it spores everywhere.

    Why would you judge yourself after all? Neither should you be judging or punishing, nor does your mind deserve that. You don't want others to do that to you; you would not judge your own baby; Then why would you judge yourself?

    So should you forgive your mind every single time?

    There's no question of forgiving your mind if you don't blame it in the first place, right? Of course, accept the mistake; but you need not try to accept or reject the part of the mind or the root cause in the mind that made you make that mistake.

    Don't Forgive your mind – Don't Forget your mistake - Just Learn! Learn from each mistake.

    Amour-propre

    Amour-propre – self-respect, or self-serving along with a bit of understanding tough love on yourself, help yourself up. Patch up that life you thought was damaged. As long as you forgo the bitterness of the past, the patch-ups would be seamless.

    Mindfulness

    Mindfulness is another common trend that becomes a fad simply because people use it wrong. Mindfulness involves a person paying attention to each aspect of his life process such as the breath. The mistake most people make, is when applying this method into relations and growth. This makes them judgemental of themselves.

    Again, you would not hover over your child, would you? You, and your mind are both better when they're trusted. Once they're instructed and directed with love they would both gladly obey and oblige.

    Counsel Yourself

    Because no one can understand your struggles better than yourself; you are the best person to mentor your mind. So, never hesitate when you badly need some pep-talk to go onward or mentoring. It is of course, available all the time; you just need to be gentle with yourself. If you are worried someone might think you are going mad, you can also choose to write it down for yourself.
