Introduction
What is Depression?
Depression is classified as a mental problem. It is a negative feeling of sadness, loss, or anger that can interfere with the daily activities of its sufferers.
It's pretty common too. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) trusted source estimates that 8.1% of American adults aged 20yrs and above suffered from depression over two weeks from 2013 to 2016.
People experience depression in different ways. Depression can disrupt one's daily work. It can lead to wasted time and decreased productivity, both at school and at work.
It can also affect relationships and can result in some chronic health issues.
It's important to realize that sometimes feeling down is a part of life. Boring events come to everyone. But if you regularly feel depressed or hopeless, you may face depression. Depression is considered a serious illness that can get worse without proper treatment.
Those seeking treatment often see improvement in symptoms within weeks.
Depression is a kind of mood disorder that can influence every aspect of daily life.
This disorder affects all segments of the population in every socio-economic group: children, adults, the elderly.
This powerful disease controls the body, mind, behavior, emotional state and can even determine the ability to maintain relationships.
Profound sadness, irritability, rapid weight gain or loss or inability to lose weight, indecisiveness, insomnia or constant fatigue, memory loss, and feelings of worthlessness are some of the effects of depression.
Depression is a mood disorder regarded as one of the most common brain diseases in the world. Over 20 million adults suffer from this disease which can occur when life's hardships seem intolerable, but that is not always the case.
A stressful period does not always cause depression, but it very well can.
Depression is usually due to an imbalance of neurotransmitters in the brain leading to serious symptoms. These symptoms include thoughts of suicide, decreased appetite or sleep, unexplained crying, or prolonged sadness. Depression
