CHAPTER 1
DON’T SWEAT THE
SMALL STUFF
It is not that important. Say that to yourself. What just occurred is not that important. This is not that important. The outcome is not that important. Why let it ruin your mood, your day, your life? Get over it! Say I’m OK
now. I forgive myself. I forgive them. I am human. I make mistakes. Others are only human. It wasn’t on purpose. I forgive him or her. They make mistakes.
Say I feel better now
and smile. Good. Now go look in the mirror and accept yourself just the way you are. This is all you need to do to be happy and to have inner peace and quiet that inner voice. Quit trying to blame someone or yourself. It is not that big of a thing. You will get over it eventually. Why not speed up the process? Can you remember what was happening exactly twenty years ago today at this moment? Can you remember ten years ago or even five years ago? How about last year at this time? It may have been a very distressing day, but you got over it. That is how it works. If someone blames you for something that wasn’t your fault, you have choices how to respond. What you say to yourself dictates your response. You can feel and respond the way that you normally do from your EGO, or you could try something new. Accept the blame. Say I’m sorry
and get over it. Watch the other person’s response. It may make you chuckle inside. You interrupted their pattern. Their normal response won’t work. Try it. Have fun with this. Instead of It wasn’t me,
change now. Say Sorry, I will do better next time.
Once upon a time, a man wanted a goal very, very much. He spent his whole life preparing to win a championship. Just when it appeared like he was going to win this biggest event, disaster struck. He couldn’t finish the event. Afterward, all the media went to him and asked him how he felt about being so close to losing what was most important to him. He said, There are other things going on in this world that are far more important than this event.
See the big picture of the universe. Shrink the small stuff. Expand the good stuff. Shortening your reaction time give gives one freedom to change. Think greater than you feel. Diplomacy is the art of telling people to go to hell in such a way that they ask for directions. You will never reach your destination if you stop and throw stones at every dog that barks.
If you had $86,400 in your bank account and someone
stole $10, would you throw away all $86,390.00 to get
it back? No? So why throw all eighty 86,400 seconds in
your day away because someone’s negativity interrupted
your 10 seconds. Don’t sweat the small stuff.
—Alicia Brown
You don’t have to be who you think you are.
There are other people who don’t have any trouble with the problems that I have.
Problems are things that you decided to have, as your mind told you it is a problem.
If your mind says I don’t like this,
say I Do, I Like it. I Like this. Boy, am I glad this is happening.
Refuse to close. Expand your comfort zone.
If you have a Mind, why not use it.
I’m living on a tiny rotating planet, hurling through space, and I’m having experiences in the middle of nowhere. Practice saying to yourself, I am now here—present in the seat of self-awareness.
I can handle this, shrink it down to size, put it is perspective. Compared to what?
Make your vision more real than the rest of the room.
Miracles give us more confidence to continue our mission.
Act curious and confident.
When we are authentic, we are unique.
Be a master of destiny, not a victim of history.
If you can’t wait to go to work, work can’t wait to see you.
When the WHY is big enough, you will find a way.
Honor peoples’ differences and love to achieve healing consciousness.
Add years to your life and life to your years.
When you value you, the world values
